Brand New whitelabel skipping help !
View this Thread in Original format
WhiteBlade
Ok I got two technics sl-1210 at home !

I just bought brand new Shure Whitelabel and one of the table make the needle skip.

I try each catrige on each table and it always the same table that skip even with a different catrige that work find on the other table.

I made the ajustement like they said in the manuel that come with the shure catrige with 4-5 mm high and 3,5g of weight. I try even more weight on the table that keep on skipping and it still not doign the job.

I found when I was ajusting my tonearm that the table that is skipping the tonearm come back on the right by it self when it was all loose on the other table the tonearm would stay in place when I stop touching it will the other table as soon as I leave the tonearm alone it rush back on the right as if there was a spring pusing it or something.

I see that there is two screw one over the tonearm and the other on the right where the tonearm finish and where it make the tonearm possible to move ( top right corner on the table )

Is this what I need to play with in order to make stay in place and not push back on the right ? Or there is other ajustment ?

My other needle before use to skip once in a while on that table but not that bad ! I change them because sound quality was getting bad.

PLease help I made a search and didn't find anything about that !

Have you tried to fix this with your rear weight? Put it more radically towards the tip of the tonearm... Also remove the second weight from the rear of the tonearm (the added weight if the cart is heavier than ** grams).

I had the same problem with the bearing on the top of one of my tonearm's binding in a similar manner. It would pull to the outside of the turntable instead of staying where I had placed it. Turns out the tonearm just needed a slight adjustment to the bearing on the top. If you choose to do this to your table be very careful because you can damage your bearings and have to replace them which is a pain in the ass. Take a jewler's screwdriver and adjust the screw on the top of the tonearm assembly. My tonearm's screw needed a very slight turn counterclockwise to eliminate the pull towards the outside. I use whitelabels.

Just outta curiousity, my whitelabels have thew ires sticking out a bit too much, they touch the record when it plays (I just got em like an hour ago), what'd you guys do to correct this? Increase tonearm height (my technics seem to do fine at this height though [height is 3 btw])? Or tape them up or something?
WhiteBlade
I'm goign to try the top screw like you said

For the wire touching your records it should be the height of the hole tone arm you have to put it at 4 or 5 mm.

Uhm...put more weight on the tonearm? You all think vinyl costs $30,000. Don't be a , put weight on it. You can buy the record over again in 5 years when it finally wears a little bit

I've heard you need to break in certain cartridges. Find a record that has a looping groove at the end so the needle just stays in the groove once it gets to the end, then let it run like that over night.

Just throwing things out.....have u checked ur anti-skate on the deck?....also is the deck sitting level?...

what are your whitelabel's settings?

The whitelabels do need to be broken in to preform best but they should by no means skip out of the box unless you're doing heavy handed scratching which you should be doing anyway. You can just leave them on a record over night for a few days and that should break em in. No need for a loop or a locked groove you can leave the turntable off. Let me know if adjusting the bearing on top of the tonearm worked out.

I owned 4 Whitelabel carts and 2 out of the 4 skipped right out of the box and had to be returned. I took them back for Ortofons and have been very happy with them.

both of my whitelabels skipped out of the box, but after break in they've been working great.

height: 3mm
tracking: 3g
antiskate: 0g
overhang: 52mm (if still bad shorten to 50mm)
