i guess this thread is primarily for girls but boys who know anything about this should comment too...
has anyone used an ionic hairdryer or know anything about them?
i have super thick hair and it takes forever to dry. plus i am concerned that drying it is bad for my hair. some one told me the ionic dryers work faster but i dont know anything about them.
are they more energy efficient?
better for the health of your hair?
faster working?
more effective at blowing hair straight?
any opinions and observations are welcome. :) |

omg, i have pondered starting a thread like this in the COR several times, to tell all the girls to use ionic hairdryers because they're insanely awesome. i never did it though since i figured there are so few girls it'd be sort of pointless.
but YES! ionic hairdryers are awesome. i switched to one a few years ago and my hair dries sooo much faster than with a regular hairdryer. it also makes it straighter and shinier too. i'm not sure how they compare in energy efficiency, to a normal hairdryer.
it used to take me 30-45 minutes to dry my hair (which is usually around shoulder length). now it takes 10-15 minutes.
get one! :D |

well i'm sold! the one thing that puts me off about it is that i have a perfectly good hairdryer at home and it feels wasteful to get a new one when i dont really need it or have space to store it... but to save 15 minutes a day... time is money.
do you have curly hair? i have this curl i can never dry straight and i have also considered getting a straightener but i will try the ionic dryer first.
my friend recommended the revlon dryer. what do you use?
i also figured this thread might be a bit pointless in the COR byut there are girls here and they generally seem to be the type of girls whose opinions i value. maybe we need more girl threads.... |

sorry for bothering this girly discussion :p
copy/past from the first google result i found :
Ionic Hair Dryers
Ionic hair dryers only require half the heat of normal hair dryers, and reduce drying time up to 50%. When you use our Ionic hair dryers you won't suffer from heat damage or burning to your hair. Ionic hair dryers Fortify and beautify the hair from the inside out resulting in healthy, shiny and more manageable hair |

working in a call center / distributor my company handles a lot of random stuff and yes IONIC HAIR DRYERS too
I've heard they were good and that most customers who make the switch never want to go back cause they really work well. |

cool thanks! like i said, boys are welcome in this thread too! i guess half the heat probably mean more efficient. i just didnt want to get hooked on a device that uses more energy... i want to attempt to be as green as possible when it comes to energy consumption. though i suppose if i really wanted to do that i would air dry my hair but it's just too cold... |

you'll probably never use your old hairdryer ever again after you get the ionic. ;)
my hair is naturally wavy. if i let it air-dry, it dries kinda frizzy and wavy. when it's a certain length, the ends will flip out no matter how much i curl them under while im drying my hair... so sometimes i have to use a straightener for that if i want my hair perfectly straight.
i use the Conair IonShine, haven't really heard any reviews of other kinds... mine works fine so i've just stuck with it. and it's cheap, too... only $15.
another plus... they're much quieter than conventional hairdryers. |

| I bought one for my ex when her regular one broke. She didn't really like it at first because she thought it took longer to dry her hair, but in the end she converted and told me to go away when I offered to replace it. |
