How did you get into collecting vinyl?

Did you start just for the sake of collecting something?
Are you a DJ at heart?
I mean it's an expensive habbit, especialy for the more rare records, do you just love the feeling of owning a record that few others do?
I'm just curious. |

simple i bought some decks.
But its just great looking around everywhere for certain records that u want they can be pretty expensive |

Where do you normally buy your vinyl? Online or just a local record store? |

i ultimately bought a tt, after having some dual cd players for about a year and only bought my first several about 3 weeks ago..
i'd have to say for the sake of both spinning and collecting :)
..also went to my local record store; namely, Satellite, which didn't have a single record on my list of like 60 :(
..so i usually resort to buying online now |

if i buy a few records in bulk i use the online stores either chemical records or tune inn.
But if im after one certain record ill buy off ebay its the best place on the internet for vinyl imo. |

I got into collecting vinyl when I said "Okay, I'm getting decks, so I'm going to need records, let's buy some."

I, myself, purchase from both the internet and a local shop. In my experience, the internet has been great for the newer releases. The local shop I like has a nice mix of old and new tunes, and a bunch of older gems. |

ebay > everything else
people are hesitant to use it because they assume they're going to get ripped off but as long as you know your way around and use common sence (ie. checking their comments) you're pretty much fine. |

well ur never really gonna get ripped of buying vinyl on ebay for less than £20 its not even worth scamming someone out of that little ammount so ur pretty much safe.
You just have to start being carefull when u buy more expensive stuff like dj decks and mixers |

| Bought some turntables after spinning at my mates house for a few months, decided it was something that I enjoyed, and so yea, got the tables, and about 30 mins later was buying records downtown at a local shop that is now closed, thankfully there was another I could go to for my addiction. |
