I started off when i was 15 buying alot of Hardhouse, Techno and Trance as i had a job to supply me with the ones i needed from 23rd Precinct in Glasgow. My decks arrived shortly after i only made sure i was buying records before to ensure i had records to play with as soon as i got them
Then after going to GkGG at 16 i slowly slided onto only buyin Trance stuff (Progy and Techy as well) and its stuck by that for roughly 2 years
I do goto local stores if they have the ones i want and will use the internet if the record store i goto dont stock other ones i want |

| I think I'd like to learn a bit about spinning. What would you recommend as the best way, get a friend to teach you? I'd like to get some tables and start a vinyl collection. What are price ranges for things like these and what are some of the price ranges on vinyls? Thx in advance for the info, if you'd like, to keep the thread clean, PM me. :) |

I originally started collecting vinyl when I was about 12 when I used to listen to heavy metal. Then I bought solely because I thought vinyl is so much better looking and more worthwhile than CD or cassette. Granted it is more expensive. I found myself buying picture albums and colour vinyl more than most.
Then when I was about 19, I started buying vinyl for trance music with a view to buying mixing decks in the future. I started buying the songs I liked from listening to the Radio 1 shows, and watching the DJ's at Escape in Swansea, and it simply grew from there.
The moment I bought a cheap pair of decks, I bought a lot more vinyl, and my want list probably quadrupled! |

at the moment i only have one tt, so i use my vinyls only for listening, but a second tt is planned in the near future, hopefully within a month or two max

i bought vinyls over a year before i got my first decks (had 760 vinyls before my first decks)... i just started collecting songs i really liked on vinyl, then it got fun and interesting... hunting down those rare releases, etc.... i then decided i should buy decks and dj as a hobby (apartment, for friends, etc).

| My buddy was into it before me, and wanted me to go to the record shop with him one day. I figuired Id check out some records instead of standing around like a knob. I found a couple that I liked and bought them, and so it started. I had about 7 or 8 records that sat around for a couple years. Then I finally got started in mixing them. Im actually glad I picked them up because by the time I started mixing....I couldnt find them again.:thepirate |
