Final Scratch 2?

What's the deal with Final Scratch 2? Has anyone ever used it and can give their opinion on it? Personally I think it's a great concept, you can save a lot of money by downloading MP3s instead of buying records. I just have no clue how it performs.

Before people start jumping to conclusions, do you mean MP3s from like Kazaa and , or paid from Beatport and the like?
aleksd
Ya I mean MP3s from kazaa and stuff. I guess a lot of people would argue that most MP3s are encoded at low quality.

even though i was a fs1.1 user and im waiting for ssl to arrive, i still perfer the discrete sound of vinyl.

If you love this music, don't you think you should support the artists and buy either CDs, Vinyl or the MP3 from an online site?

If you're drop some $ on FS and decks etc. you might want to think about paying for music too

I transfer all my vinyl to digital and have literally spent thousands of dollars on the gear I use to do it, not to mention all my time and the cost of the vinyl. I would never put my digital files online for sharing.

I've had several people ask if they can copy my collection and a few actually get offended when I told them no like they were just asking as a courtesy. If I knew the person had the actual record I would have no problem giving them the AIFF but to just giving anyway the artists music is totally wrong.

The market for our style of music is so small that large scale steeling of the music could do very serious damage. If you download a track while you waiting for the record you ordered to online to get to you that is one thing. But if you plan to actually use that file and never pay the artist you should reconsider.

OK end of my preaching. :)

+0.5,

i agree for the most part, but there's stuff i've been searching hi and low and sometimes having it as a mp3 file until you can actually
find it on vinyl is nice. Stuff i have on mp3 like "Remember Chicago" is very hard to find on vinyl, and can help motivate me to find it's origional pressing.

guys stop preaching about the ethics of mp3s - he wants to know about FS2..

well i've had FS2 since the start of december. i can't call myself a Final Scratch user simply because it hasn't worked yet!

you need a firewire card for your notebook in order to connect the scratchamp. typical of stanton, the amp is VERY VERY picky of what card you use. i have bought 2 different cards and neither worked. stanton recommended a firewire card with a Texas Instruments chipset. ive ordered one and am now waitin on it gettin shipped.

ive heard people complain recently that they experience frequent audio dropouts even tho they run high-spec computers. stanton apparently are working on the solution to this. yea right lol.

if this card doesnt work or FS2 is runnin like im switching to SSL which is from what i hear 100% reliable and if it messes up, the techs have a solution for you within a day.

think carefully about your next step friend. oh and btw the rest of the guys are right. support your artists and buy their mp3s instead of downloading them. on the plus side you'll get better quality than you will off kazaa rips!

Stanton has always had problems w/ technical support on their products. When i owned fs 1.1, it was no problem to get it working, but getting it working stable was another story. I tried it on 3 different chipsets, via kt333a, intel 845mp mobile, intel 865pe, and on a g4 powerbook and every pc had done the same scratchamp disconnecting issues reguardless of any software version out there. I e-mailed them religiously and posted on their now debunk forums requesting a rma for the pile of crap soundcard. They didn't reply. So thankfully the place i bought it from allowed me to bend their rules and return it for my money back. Then after about a month of returning final , they e-mailed me a rma number and shipping address. Way to go Stanton....

Just go with ssl. Rane posts the new updated software free on their forums, unlike Stanton whom wants you to spend $50 for any updates, and it also runs stable like a rock on my 1.6ghz p4-m w/ no audio dropouts like i've experienced w/ fs-1.1-1.5
