| This was my first Australia/Melbourne dance event and it was very cool. Prodigy made people go absolutely crazy, that was fun. Not much dancing though, to crowded. After Prodigy we headed to Godskitchen arena to see Jan Johnston, MIKE and Rank 1. Jan was magic, love her voice and the tunes she's singing. MIKE played good music although a bit to slow for me, but that was what I had expected from him. But what surprised me the most was - Australia clubbers hardly don't dance?? Maybe people were really tired after Signum, but still it was really early so I didn't quite understand... Anyway, Rank 1 played awesome tunes just as I had expected (just a bit too much breaks as someone said). All in all a great evening! :) |

Two Tribes 2005 by Nikko :D
Arrived just before 10 and didnt really have anyone to listen to. Went off with some mates to check out the rooms. Ended up in the middle of Grant Smilies set in Mischief which was pretty crap..expected more. Ended up kicking it in there to catch the Prodigy's first two tracks. In the end trance won out and it was off to Signum (sorry Prodigy..im spewing).
Good to see a lot of the TA regulars front and centre along with some new faces from interstate. I didnt mind Signums set..pretty banging but i thought they played too many of their own productions...seemed like there was no flow to the mix. Mixing was average also.
Jan was a cool commercial break..nice camel toe.
Then it was what i was waiting for most, MIKE! He didnt dissappoint...liked the flow of his set until he hit yimanya...which i dont mind but then just seemed like he played more for the crowd. Flawless mixing..one of the best ive seen.

nice tracklisting work there Nicko..
sure he didnt play Andy Moor - Halcyon???
either way.. MIKE was by far the star of teh night
and it was so huge to hear his bootleg mix of Blue Monday
on the big speakers.. had previously heard it during
a live set he did at the Asta Den Haag.. but wow this just
blew it all away.
his whole set was magical..
not one disappointing track |

sweet review there nicko, couldn't get there so a big en thanks for the tracklists- i thought you would come out with the goods
M.I.K.E's tracklist reads like an absolute blinder but the last 4-3 tracks seem a bit dodgy, what did you guys think when he played them! |

Anyone got an ID for the first track of Rank 1, or maybe it was the second. Either way, its stuck in my head real good :p
*btw, totally awesome night, can't be faulted, except when I got locked out after 5:30 cause they neglected to tell me you can't get back in after 5:30 with pass outs. |

well i couldnt really got into the last 2-3 tracks, it just didn't seem to flow with the sound of rest of the set. but apart from that M.I.K.E. blew me away :eyespop:
unfortunately i couldnt get in signums set or rank 1's set... i only caught the last hour of signums set but thought signums set was too hard although i did like some tracks... maybe i just like soft fluff trance :o :whip:
with rank 1 i got bored pretty quick, prolly cause i was too tired but i thought the breakdowns were too long and i actually fell asleep in the chairs thru half the set only to wake up at the end to one of my favourite tracks: cygnus x - superstring (rank 1 mix) :D |
