i thought Xaview Moriarty was some average height slim white looking guy and he turned out to be some big Serbian tank.. i got to practice some Serbian swear words too .. also had no idea that Red was your sister .. small world

thought Kytracid was maybe about my height with a dark complexion, turns out he's like 6'4 and Tanzanian ..

nice meeting ya guys ..

anyways .. the rest of the nite was great..

Aaron Mossey held it down proppa .. really got the crowd worked up in the early part of the nite before the headliners started arriving .. some superb programming.. i was delighted to receive a lot of compliments from people in the club asking me who he was .. congrats again Aaron on a job well done!

K-Swing played a nice dirty set .. much better than the last time i saw her play which was with Rennie Pilgrim i believe ..

Freq Nasty's set wasn't bad either, but the tempo was a lot faster.. the sound actually cut out for some reason in the middle of his set which caused him to hav to work up the pace again .. it was still an alrite performance overall .. i love the dreads .. i feel like getting fu man chu dreadz now .. man .. that's some fury ..

alrite, i'm tired and gonna get some food before i head to sleep .. that's all for now .. sorry about the retarded review ..

nice to see everyone again .. ciao

I'll try to keep this short -- but something tells me that's not gonna happen...

Firstly, TOTA's are a cool buncha peeps ! I've always enjoyed partying with you guys, but tonite was extra special because i was able to introduce myself to a lot more people that i had previously only seen or known about.

Desidel, the_Broad, Sgt Foo, Xavier, Red -- it was great to meet you guys :)

Then there were some familiar faces that always draw a smile to the lips:

Shrayer, DigiNut, LKD, Cuzo, MaxQ, Jenna, John Tang, Gamma, SteroPrincess, Twitch, FireStarter <-- you peeps know how to represent for the T.DOT party scene -- and jus for that, you're already in my GOOD books ! :)

Now onto the music part of the review...lets get it started chronologically with the first DJ...

And that would be Aarron Moosey, who threw down an absolutely gorgeous set that encompassed everything from Prog trance to House to some rather dirty cuts of Proggy breaks ( Quivver - Boz Boz ( Shiloh Mix ) <---- Track of the night for me Aarron ! :D ). What can i say, i've heard him before and the 5 hours was exactly what was required to showcase his talent. Great track selection, very solid programming and I was impressed that it never seemed to get predictable.

I did however find myself splitting time between the front room and the mian room once K-Swing bagan her set...Ordinarily i wouldn't have. But both DJ's were doing their thing...both rooms were buzzing with their respective crowds, and along with hanging out the TOTA's, K-Swing was a treat to watch and hear performe.

We all know she's gorgeous -- we all should know she's one of the best breaks DJ out there -- bar none -- and talk about responding to the crowd. Maybe i'm biased, but watching her smile as she mixed her tracks and jumped around in the booth pumping up the crowd made me realize just how much energy a DJ can infuse into the crowd when he isn't just beat matching and mixing records. Her set of course was fantastic. It had breaks soul, some growling anger, some beautiful moments and a little spice of exotic lands all rolled up into one very satisfying package.

Freq Nasty stepped up to the decks next and upped the ante, raising the BMP counter significantly in what was quite a furious breaks set. I'm not sure i enjoyed every part of it, but it did allow me to jet back into the front room where Aaron was spinning some very silky progressive numbers. Freq didn't really dissapoint, but he wasn't spectacular either. Still, i can't complain about his mixing too much because except for a few track selections which i found iffy, most of his set was real head bangin stuff.

By the time D-Monic came on, my legs were beginning to weaken...that guy seriously takes no prisoners though, and just started to pound some relentless beats...if i was on drugs, that would have been the stage where i'd have been tweaked out and bouncing around -- unfortunately my sober self was already yawning a few times.

So, the night came to an end at 5:30...and i somehow stumbled home to get ready to watch Liverpool take on the Red Devils...

So, for the ultra short version of the review: Went to System, hung out with friends, had a blast, behaved properly...danced a little bit, ran into some beautiful people, smiled...got a chance to see 5 very talented DJ's, listened to some awesome Musak, stumbled home, now have a little ache that is going to feel really good in the morning ;)

Till next time,

Peace,

Sid

Xavier's a cool guy -- who like many other TA's, i've met before at a previous breaks party. You rock guy ! And that crew you hang out with knows how to bust moves as well. It was a pleasure hanging out with you and your crew...

It's something i'm sure we'll have a chance to repeat the next time a breaks act is in TO ;)

Awesome night...I stayed in the front room for most of the night...Aaron Mossey...seriously good tunes! I'm looking forward to the bi-monthly nights to System :)

nice to see Stereoprincess, Gamma, Shryer (looking forward to the Docks party!) and Ash again...*finally* met DigiNut, LKD, John (thanks again for the guestlist all this time!)

the new sound system in the main room ROCKS...if you're on the dance floor, it's loud, crisp...mmmmmm...but step off and you can actually hold a conversation...pretty decent setup!

too trashed for anything more detailed :p must sleep.

was great meeting up with freq nasty as he chilled by a speaker prior to his set, standing all alone and sippin on a beer...

me:"yo Sid, that freq nasty yo??"
Sid:" WHERE WHERE??oh ..i think so.."

K-swing, always on fire, was great to hear Galvanize in a club (the last track she dropped...its new from teh Chem Bros.)

Aaron was actually putting up some competition with the main room whenever he dropped dirty breaks...as Sid was split between the 2 rooms, so was i...lol (Aaron thats a compliment..hahaha)

Last night was fun, I seem to always get very drunk at System. Hahahah Only came out to see Aaron and have a drink or two. I accomplished one of those things, Aaron was great, I had more than a drink or two though. Always have fun when the TOTA crowd shows up. Highlight of the night, talking to Ray and looking at the "girls", "aw, isn't that nice, they're talking about hair, shoes, shopping, you know, girl stuff", not even 5 seconds later, a shoe comes off to show the others up close. hahahahah

mmm, that would have been good, opted for Pizza instead. Great for breakfast but I'm wanting a pita now. :)

mmmmmmmmm tht pita was damn good too! Great to see everybody :) Thanks to Heidi and Aaron for picking me up and for the pre party hospitality and to Jeff for makin my mind up for me and decide I was coming.("laugh my ass off!") Aarons set was awesome! I had a long day at work and was on my feet all day, and it really took a toll on me but I had a great time none the less. I spent most of my time in the front room, leavin a couple times to check out the new sound in the main room. Like Mark said, Jeff, Jay and Eso and I (I think it was them) were standing about 5 feet in front of a speaker and one of them commented how we were so close to a speaker, yet could hold a proper conversation.

shout outs to "Chewy" aka Phil for eating the most straws...

And once again thanks to Aren for the drive home. Much Appreciated!

Well, all in all that ranks up about a 9 or a 9.5 on the fun scale!

Aaron Mossey was spinning a mix of tracks, started off with some progressive and housey stuff, then moved onto some breaks, then some more progressive and trancey tunes later on in the night. I actually spent quite a bit of time room-hopping as well, there was usually some sick track playing in at least one of them. I can see why they like to book you Aaron, you really complement the nights at System! Plus, you bring out all the cool people!

K-Swing was really putting out 110% that night! Maybe we just all pay more attention because she's hot, but she took us through all kinds of breaks, old sk00l and nu sk00l, and was really interacting with the crowd, hopping around in the booth and smiling at everyone for the whole set. It seemed to be taking the crowd a while to warm up, but she got 'em moving eventually! A lot of tracks I recognized but can't ID, although unless my memory is failing me I thought I heard Scissor Sisters - Mary (Mylo Remix), which was definitely the highlight for me (anybody who's listened to Desyn Masiello's EM will know what I'm talking about! :D) Only thing I didn't like was near the end of her set she slowed it down and played a bunch of hip hop tunes. :wtf: I guess it's a breaker thing, but I headed back to the front room at that point...

I think FreQ Nasty picked up on those hip hop tunes and literally started mixing in double-time, because he must have been spinning at 140 bpm or more. THAT got the crowd moving, I saw some serious move-bustin' at that point. With him it was a lot less of the electro and progressive breaks and more of the hard, dirty, nasty breaks (I guess that's why he puts "Nasty" in his name). I would have spent more time grooving to it if I wasn't out of breath and leaking vital fluids. Anyone who can actually dance for more than 15 minutes to that without taking a breather deserves a medal! (And don't get me started on junglists because most of them step in half time).

Saw a lot of people at System that I wasn't expecting that night! Almost all of the "usual suspects" were out in full force - you kids know who you are, and it was great seeing you out representin', perfect way to get pumped up right from the start! Ryan's camera was messing up so after about 8 attempts I think he managed to get a picture of Ray and I with my eyes half closed. :haha: Wasn't expecting to see Sally and Mike (mercure) either - it's too bad you're cutting down on the partying, because you two are energizer bunnies on the dance floor. More towards the end of the night I ran into Neeta (voodoochild) - it was nice to meet your friends but I think you need to work a little harder on those introductions babe. ;) Also FINALLY met MarkT (I hope you weren't expecting politics because I keep those out of the clubs :D).

Overall there was also VERY little sketchiness that night! A few other people pointed this out too. The irony, of course, is that the cracked out Asians giving each other glowstick shows stuck out like sore thumbs. :stongue: But in any event, I thought it was really nice to see a crowd feeding off its own energy like that.

Now I have to decide whether or not I can go out again tonight... I'm not aching, but maybe that's just because I'm numb. :nervous:

P.S. Aron, did you end up bailing?
