Part 2 of our Holiday Weekend double-header.

Come on down to wish Steve Porter and America a happy birthday by getting crunked with of all us at the Sullivan Room on Saturday, July 2nd. Our quarterly parties at the Sullivan Room are always pure madness, always a drunken hit with the Groovanauts, and this one promises to be the biggest one yet.

- PLANET OF THE DRUMS TOUR (2:00-4:30):

DIESELBOY (POTD- HUMAN- www.djdieselboy.com) PHILADELPHIA
It has been a long road to the top for drum and bass DJ/Producer maverick Dieselboy. After years spent pushing the U.S. drum and bass scene forward and making a name for himself, it ís easy to imagine that Dieselboy would want to step back and bask in his well earned success. But this is not the case, because for Dieselboy, it is the continual test that is the inspiration. Seeking out and approaching challenges head on, Dieselboy has taken it upon himself to tear down the walls that isolate music genres as well as expand the worldwide acceptance of drum and bass as a whole and American-produced dnb in particular. A part of the stateside electronic movement from the very beginning, Dieselboy is hailed as one of the 'Founding Fathers' of American drum and bass. His passion for the music and his rigorous touring and production schedules have earned him a slot in that upper pantheon of DJs able to perform to enthusiastic audiences the world over. From Hong Kong to Helsinki to Philadelphia, the UK's Knowledge Magazine declares, "Dieselboy has managed to build a fan base that rivals that of any rock star."

AK1200 (POTD- www.ak1200.com) ORLANDO
Orlando, Florida-based AK1200 is unquestionably one of the United States top drum & bass DJ’s. w/ MC J MESSINIAN (POTD- Substitution) PHILADELPHIA
Born in Los Angeles, California and bounced around the country like a nomad eventually ending up in Philadelphia. He developed a love for MC’ing as a child from head-noddin’ to HipHop in oversized headphones and engaging in freestyle cyphers with other "staircase artists". His musical roots and influence range from Soul, Hip Hop, Latin percussion, Dancehall, and his mother Helena’s emotional piano and guitar sessions. Frequently went to parties to b-boy to breaks and tribal house with comrades and eventually fell in love with the raw snares and basslines of Drum and Bass music. In 1998, Messinian started experimenting in rhyming to different genres of music, and after becoming a resident MC at Club Space in Philadelphia, he eventually linked up with the members of the Substitution crew.

// GENERAL INFO::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

PLANET OF THE DRUMS! FOUR MEN - ONE MISSION:
It was the summer of 2000, a secret joint experiment by the pentagon and cia was performed in the jungles of Zanzabar, Central Africa. 40 of the finest hitmen were gathered from around the world and dropped into the jungle. They were to fight 3000 guerilla commandos. One interesting note however - the professionals were given neither food nor weapons. It was a merciless test to see how long they could last without help of any kind against the commando jungle beasts. The length of the experiment was set at 80 days. 18 of the original 40 were dead within 3 days. Another 10 corpses were found after a week, and 4 more on the 10th day. On the 13th day, 2 severed heads and 2 scalps were found floating in a swamp. Even though termination had been set at 80 days, 36 out of the original 40 were dead by the 13th day and the experiment was considered a complete failure. However, a short while later, the joint observation team discovered something incredible. 4 men, at first thought to be dead, were found alive. These 4 not only survived the entire term of 80 days by drinking rainwater and eating roots, they killed every single one of the 3000 guerilla troops. Operating under the code names AK1200, DARA, DIESELBOY, and MESSINIAN - they formed and elite unit known as THE PLANET OF THE DRUMS.....
