i've been wearing glasses for around 10 years now and i was wondering if i should get contacts, this came to mind because when im playing basketball and other sports, glasses seem to be a nuisance. i have no experience or knowledge on this so i don't know what i should do: whether to try contacts or keep glasses. suggestions?

You should try contacts out. I wore glasses for 5 years before i tried them out. They take some getting used to, like putting them in and taking them out, but once you get used to them there awesome.

Get contacts, first 2 days are a bitch, smooth sailing after that.

Being wearing contact lenses about 12 years now, I recommend them.

I've been wearing contacts for almost 10 years now. I hate wearing glasses.

I rock the contacts, I recomend the daily ones that you throw away, they are really easy to deal with. I also have some contacts that are blue now because my friend gave me a pair.

Except for the aesthetics, glasses seem to be a better option.

Contact lenses can be quite dangerous, whereas the risks of wearing glasses are lower with modern technology. Keep in mind you're touching your eyes with a device when you use contact lenses, so there are risks (e.g. fungus) that you wouldn't have if you were glasses. Obviously, most people don't experience much problems with contact lenses, but I believe you should know the risks before wearing them. Go search on the web, see the pros and cons, and then make your choice.

Besides, glasses can be quite classy.

I dunno depends on the glasses and wheater you have a boring face (glasses help for that). My contact suppplier won't give me more cos I don't goto checkups..... I'm using old ones and glasses. Bad idea really eyes are handy. But I'm gonna move onto thouse 30 day don't need to ever take them out type.

EDIT: Also went to one big night (normally wear contacts, just don't get new ones lately) out where the dance floor is a sweat box and my glasses got fogged up........ not cool.

i'm myopic and wear glasses...except for when im in the club coz i think its more classy not to and when im dancing i feel like my face is sweating so its rather inconvenient. now im thinking about buying lenses.

You should try contacts and see if they work for you. Get it? :D

Anyway, it's dangerous to play sports while wearing glasses. I'll give you an example. About a year ago there was this guy in my soccer team. He wore glasses in each game and still he couldn't hit the ball on some ocassions, but that's a whole different story. One day the ball was shot straight at his face. Actually had time to move but he didn't. The glasses, or the parts of it, went flying in different directions. I imagine it is less risky to wear glasses while playing other sports. I wouldn't know for certain.

Although if someone wanted to poke you in the eye, they wouldn't be able to if you were wearing glasses. Also if someone wanted to spit in your face, you wouldn't have to worry about getting any of it in your eyes.

On the other hand glasses tend to block some of your vision because of the frames. But that depends on the size of the frames. Some are big, others are small. With contacts you don't have to worry about that.

Going back to the first hand, glasses are easier to get off. Contacts require practice, just like sex. At first it is going to take a long time for you to take the contacts off. After some time you'll get the hang of it, that's if you decide to try them out.

Another thing to look at is the price. Glasses are cheaper and last longer.

I've been wearing contacts for about 12 years now and love it. I like my red glasses, too, but when I'm driving and it's sunny out, squinting is a pain in the ass. With my contacts, I can wear sunglasses without paying out the ass for prescription sunglasses. Getting them in the very first time was a pain but after that I had no trouble at all...
But now after 12 years I'm leaning towards lasic surgery!

I would say go for it! :D

Don't fancy that really, not sure of the safety.
