| I still think trance is good, but I have a bloody hard time hearing new trance these days, so I don't listen to it as much any more. |

Andy Moor, Probspot. I think those people make the highest quality music today. |
Excuse me? Probspot is one of the artists who constantly gets ridiculed for not making quality music. He's part of the Armin/Markus crew.
And Andy Moor... :stongue: Whiteroom. Need I say more? |

there music is rather formulaic. 32 bar intro filtered 8 bar build add kcik for 8 more then 32bars with full percussion then a little sparkley riff comes in for another 32. 16 bars off atmospheric breakdown 16 bar build up. 128 bars off riffadded during break. outro.
i do own blueberry and teh andy moor mix of find but lost theyre magic now. |

Along with the artists that I listed ahead of those two, I consider them to make stuff that to me sounds pleasing. The two you pointed out made some tracks in the past year that really caught my ear, and while maybe not the most innovative of the other artists within my list, they sure are better than majority of the stuff I have heard in 2004 content wise. Also, I think Moor is much beter solo than within Whiteroom. |

Trance has lost its touch because there is only so much you can make within the restrictions trance has on its type of music.
There's only so much you can do with that synthy sound before things get boring. |

I mean i suppose i dont get the same kind of feeling ever again that i got when i listened to Rank 1 - Airwave well maybe sex but i dunno i agree that some Trance is the same at the moment and some of it i wouldnt even call Trance, though there are some good tunes out there eg Endre - I Kill For You etc |

| I think someone new to it now would get the same feeling as you did when you discovered it 4 years ago |

Well I'm not saying that those tunes aren't bad.. they are classics. Pioneers of the genre. It's just that mostly everything put out nowadays has been heard before. For people just enlightened about the genre, I guess it would be as if trance hasn't lost its touch. But they haven't seen the progression trance has taken over the years the same way people who have been around have. I believe that is why people are always bringing up these threads. Because they have finally been around enough to see that trance HAS fallen from what it used to be. And they are worried. |

trance isnt dead its alive and kicking.
psy trace has had a revival.
techy trance has got big.
the slower trance has got big aswell.
you have to wade through the though as theres more of it these days. youll never get back to the 1998 - 1999 days just like house music will never get its hacienda acid house days back. |

Well, it seems that people like to think they have matured from trances cheesy melodies, to zabiela's cheesy effects, and "scratching" (if you want to call it that)
So now everybody thinks they are soooo 1337 and underground for liking a dj who is all the way underground at #11 on the dj poll (well 15 in 2004, 11 in 2003)
This is honestly very broad statement, but it does seem to me like people either like the tiesto/buuren/whatever, or they like zabiela.
Either way they have to realize that they are still mainstream cheeze lovers...theyve just switched from cheezy saws to cheezy fake scratches.
Now don't get me wrong, I love zabiela, but I dont think liking him gives you an excuse to bash people who still like the trance stuff...youre no better than them. |

Zab is my favorite DJ, but I listen to alot of techno too. Does that give me the right to bash people? :p |
