PIONEER INTRODUCES PROFESSIONAL DJ MIXER

LONG BEACH (January 17, 2005) – Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. introduced today the DJM-1000 professional DJ mixer, which incorporates suggestions from world-renowned DJs resulting in a mixer with high quality audio, improved functionality and increased user-friendliness. The DJM-1000 uses Pioneer’s expertise in audio technology to create a high-end unit that is easily connected to other equipment like samplers, effectors and digital turntables, enabling professional DJs to put on the best show possible.

“We continue to see the growth in the DJ market and the need for creating professional products as well as innovative products,” said Karl Detken, director of product planning for professional audio products at Pioneer Electronics (USA) Inc. “Pioneer remains committed to offering the high quality equipment demanded by professional DJs and clubs around the world. The DJM-1000 is an example of that commitment.”

Pioneer utilized its long heritage in audio technology to create a high quality sound design for the DJM-1000. This mixer has 24-bit/96kHz digital sampling and a 32-bit/96kHz digital sound processor. Analog signals from LP turntables are digitized with the high quality audio-to-digital converter and mixed without deterioration of the sound quality. The unit has a rigid chassis to minimize unwanted vibrations and a strong power supply to create clear, powerful sound.

The DJM-1000 has digital input-output terminals, making it compatible with Pioneer’s CDJ-1000Mk2 and DVJ series of digital turntables. It is also easily connected to a DJ effector or sampler to give greater variety to a DJ’s performance. It also can be used for studio recording where high quality sound is required.

Its three-band isolator allows the user to control the levels from +6dB to -8dB in each band. It also can be used to attenuate and accent partial bands. A 17 phase fader curve allows the user to adjust not only the curves of the cross fader but also the curves of the channel fader.

Pioneer Introduces Professional DJ Mixer / pg. 2

The DJM-1000 incorporates several industry firsts:
- A new Sound Link / EFX Link function is used to control other Pioneer equipment via a link cable.
- A BPM Synchronize Function, which synchronizes the BPMs of all attached equipment such as CDJs and EFX.
- A Visual Link Button that allows the user to control the visual effects and fades of other visual equipment (such as an Edirol V4) with the Pioneer cross fader.

The main fader volume control knob can be changed to a rotary knob for delicate sound volume control when mixing. An optional part (DJC-1000RV) is required to make this change, which can be completed in any of Pioneer’s authorized service centers.

Other features of the DJM-1000 include:

- MIDI Out for operation of external equipment
- Two Band Booth EQ for equalizing the booth monitor
- Fader Start Play for CD player control on all six channels
- Three Band Equalizer with Hi, Mid and Low settings in each channel to obtain dynamics of instrumental sound
- Talk-Over Function, which will automatically turn down the volume level of the music when the microphone is in use
- Peak Level Meter for all six channels to check source input levels

The DJM-1000 will be available in Spring for a manufacturer’s suggested retail price: TBA

Its always interesting to see that when a company like Vestax, or denon, and others have released absolutly amazing new peices of equipment throughout the year there has been very little talk about them, and very few threads about them.

Then when Pioneer decides to release some absolutly mediocre, if not poor equipment, there is a big "oohh wow" and threads are created about it in music discussion, chill out room, and of course dj booth.

Whats does this mixer offer? head guy on the pioneer forums said he thinks it will retail for 2500. If someone wants a mixer with all those channels they should go with an Allen and Heath 464, or else a straight up studio mixer. Why would they blow 2500 on a pioneer mixer, when pioneer mixers have not been known for great build quality or sound quality. Although I'm sure this one will have fine sound quality, and hopefully a better build.

Supposedley Pioneer designed this mixer to go head to head with A&H mixers in the area of sound quality.

I said I was sure it would have improved sound quality, and build quality, if you were able to read my entire post.

However I do not know why someone would spend thousands on a company that has not proven its mixers to be reliable in the past. When allen and heath is sitting right over there with years of solid mixers.

whatever you want to speculate about the djm 1000, decks.co.uk lists it as 'available soon' with a list price of £2000. i you not. considering you can get the A&H Xone 92 for around £1000 (less if you shop around), i dont see how the djm can possibly be competing in the same league as the A&H if its double the price. that price tag is so scary i just realised - go and buy an A&H and you'll still have some money left over for a car.

I think the target market will be clubs not bedroom DJs

I dont think the xone 92 is a fair comparison to the djm1000, however the xone 464 is, and it still retails for under a thousand pounds.

Doesnt matter though. We will still see these popping up in clubs everywhere. Thats what pioneer does. They get their equipment in clubs, one way or another.

I'd like to see how well it preforms. It looks to be a great mixer.

sounds interesting... and expensive! kind of neat bpm matching function... i still think the mixer looks ugly though.

Well, for all you Turntable lovers, this mixer is completly digital, like the dnx1500, so it might not be to your liking (I love digital mixers though especially the x1500)
