Spyware problem

I'm having troubles with some new spyware on my PC. Whenever I open my internetbrowser (it is standard set to blank) this is what I get:

Changing my home site doesn't work and appearently I'm not able to set my norton antivirus on stand-by anymore (I can however still open norton itself).

These programs didn't fix anything:

Anyone care to help? Or any other programs I should try :conf:

try putting the "scp6teh" whatever into google...there might be a program specifically built to get rid of it. thats what happened with hotbar
placebo
start > run > MSCONFIG

Click the startup tab, Uncheck EVERYTHING

Reboot, run Ad-Aware SE
then run SpyBot
then run Microsoft's spyware remover
then run norton antivirus

Then reboot

Then run MSCONFIG again, enable your anti-virus software, etc.

You should be good to go.

I sugest that you download the Microsoft Windows AntiSpyware program, It works 10x better then Ad-Adware or Spybot, It would find spyware that those two can't find, Plus it would stop there processes and then delete them permanently, You can get it here.

boot your compute in safe mode, and then run the various spyware applications

Google can't find anything on the file.

MS AntiSpyware has an option to fix Browser hijacks, have u tried that? getting rid of browser hijacks is a pain in the ass but i've done it a while back with some serious registry editting.

from the looks of ur screenshot the page contacts a site called onemoresearch.net, does this link help? if not try searching google for more results on "onemoresearch".

P.S. use firefox :)

Hey man.. how are things...

Well this is what i try to do when i get a call on spyware...

First i try to uninstall those crazy programs that install themselves.

Go to Control Panel / Add-Remove Programs.

In there try to find all those programs that don't look right and that you haven't installed.

The reason we do this firstly is to keep windows clean, if we remove executables .. it wont remove them from that list.. and that keeps things very messy.

Anyways remove as much as you can from in there... then restart your machine.

Next step, install and update Spybot v1.3, once you update it.. run it for a complete scan, and immunize your system.

You might need to restart your PC from memory resident applications, so you might need to run spybot 2 times. This is the boring part, have a drink or make a quick phone call to the mrs to kill some time.

After that... install and update AdAware SE, once updated, run a FULL system scan. it will find what spybot doesn't.

Make sure its updated before you run it.

If that doesn't fix most things, check out a program in google called IE Hijack remover or something like that....

And if that doesn't fix it... uninstall internet explorer and re install it again. Make sure that you restart your pc before you re install it.

I suggest you invest in another browser as well Firefox or Opera are good alternatives to IE, they hack IE because its got many loop holes... try to keep your IE usage to a minimum until Microsoft figures out a way (*cough in 5 yrs time) how to beat the little buggers.

Hope that helps....

And that this helps anyone else.

Worse case scenario... return to a clean system restore point.. or format your computer.

I use a program at home called PrevX.... look into it... guards your system pretty well....

Keep in touch...

Well I think I finally got it fixed :) I'm not exactly sure how, but I've been messing in safe mode alot with the registry and running Ad-Aware, Spybot, Spyware Doctor and MS Antispyware. The strange thing is that everytime I ran one of those programs they kept on finding the same stuff after I rebooted, like there was some sort of file that kept re-intalling everything. I'm guessing the MS Antispyware finally worked things out (with browser hijacking).

I wish I read your post before this Pyro, because the link in your post describes this very well. Downloading that removal tool could have been alot easier (assuming it would have worked).

And yes I should urgently change to firefox :o

Anyway thanks for all the help everybody
