Seriously. Chicane is along with BT, the greatest producer of trance in the world. (goa and psy excluded!) All the stuff he has made is so lofty, melodic and blissful, I find it hard to describe.
Every track on his both albums is gold. And perfect for travelling, too. |

Yep. Chicane is top quality even if i'm not sure what will come out of his reworked version of the 3rd album, Easy To Assemble which has been in the works for quite some time. He reworked and changed some tracks on it because it got leaked out into the net way too early. Hopefully the result is better than the leaked promo version was.
Chicane at least knew his trance with tracks like Red Skies, Disco Citizens - Nagasaki Badger (Chicane Remix) and naturally several others to choose from. I wish the final version of Easy To Assemble would include some tracks under his Disco Citizens guise but i doubt it.. *sigh*.
And BT is also way up there.. surely one of the most talented producers out there.
PS. Can't forget his Palladium LIVEset (not a mixed DJ set for those who always wonder about it) from 2000 which still is absolutely amazing! |

nothing beats his debute album, far from the maddening crowds. such an awesome album, not a single bad track on it. i'm glad i got my copy of it.
behind the sun was a great follow-up nonetheless, some real classics on there. only track i dont like is "dont give up".
as for his new album, i hope it won't be as commercial as the .. ehm, "preview" was :-) |

I don't think he's produced anything worthwile after Saltwater... and I don't think he likes to be called a trance producer. Here's what he said a few years ago when Behind The Sun came out:
| quote: | | "I've started to move away from dance and write songs and become more of an artist and I'm not comfortable being lumped in with trance. I've stopped wanting to play clubs and want to play gigs, get closer to the crowd and play deeper stuff. Being thought of as a dance artist or a DJ is demeaning." |
