I think most of the big name trance dj's are similarly good. Most of them I've listened to sets from sounded like on mix cd's. None of them had any experiments going on or anything interesting (aside from the track's obviouslly).
I think in the future it's going to be even harder comparing them if they don't incorporate schratching, more efx usage or clever acapella usage, since most of them will probably stop using vinyl & cd's and move on to Ableton Live (like Sasha, G & D and more). I think you simply can't compete against computers when it comes to running two tracks at the same time.
If I had to choose between them I'd probably go for Above & Beyond, if they are as good as on their last years Essential Mix (that's the best trance set I've heard for since Tiesto's remarkable essetial mix in 2001). |
lol your like saying computers are better music composers then humans..
hahaha computers have limited abbilities... and i dont think "sasha"(who ever is the best technical dj) are programming these machines... |

SASHA DOES NOT USE VINYL
Jeez. And did I ever ing say all Sasha does is hit the beatmatch button? No, dickwad.
Tactik, vinyls aren't discs? :stongue: They're thin circular objects, which would make them discs. Jesus ing christ you people are bright. Not. |

How did you make that out? I was pointing out that computers can roll two tracks at the same time without skipping a beat or losing it much easier then on 2 decks. What has that got to do with composing? |

So a dj using tapes and real2reals in the 80's weren't dj's? Radio stations don't use vinyl or cd anymore (at least most of them), does that mean that radio dj's aren't dj's anymore, even though they choose the tracks? |

Then they aren't DJs. The term DJ is based around the usage of vinyl, is it not? You can still call them that if you want, but I won't. My point is that what Sasha does now is not what "regular" DJs do. |

Fair enough, we disagree (mainly cause I'm switching to Ableton Live when "dj'ing" myself). Just out of curiosity, what do you call what Sasha (and others) do? |

| No idea what I would call it. A mix between live performance and DJing... without discs. :happy2: |

| The main reason I call it dj'ing is because he's still doing the same thing, just using other methods. If anyone comes with another, better, term for it I'll probably use it. Until then, Sasha is still a dj in my books. :) |
