Question for Music Majors or those just knowledgable

I'm currently taking Music Humanities and in an attempt to kiss my teachers ass...as well as share my love of trance, I wanted to make him a CD.
Here's my problem. He openly stated that he has no interest in any type of popular music...he feels it's not complex enough as opposed to classical music. Right now we're on the topic of Harmony, Polyphony imitational and non-imitationa polyphony...Anyone have any ideas of songs I could add to his mix? I imagine a set would have the kinda emotion that he's looking for, but I doubt he'll be willing to listen for 74minutes. Can anyone recommend a song or several...preferably one which illustrates each of said 3 principles (harmony and polyphony)? Thanks in advance |

| maybe some really progressive, melodic, uplifting trance. stuff thats focused not really on a big bassline but the strings and chords.. |

hehe could you list specific songs... Also about Killa which is it? My ear sucks, can't tell if it's imitational or non-imitational

look into other forms of electronic music.
If you can find some of the more complex works by the following artists they might suit your needs.

Its pretty hit and miss though...alot of this stuff is quite simplistic, or fragmented at best.
If you were into lounge music, you could really find what you're looking for, although a large amount of it is quite distant from electronic music, so you might not really be proving the point you're trying to get across. It is mixed by djs though... |

you'd be surprised. my latest professor LOVED dance music. she really enjoyed chicane and earlier BT works. it was weird, one day in class we were talking about what makes a song memorable. someone brought up melodies and she played BT - Embracing the Sun ... i was like wow! i didn't know what to do in my seat.
but i mean, a big majority of trance music is polyphonic.
i know this might not please a lot of people but a good, simple track to show ur professor is Probspot - Foreplay. 2 melodies + atlesat 3 FX melodies. The harmony is going to be obvious, but i think he would enjoy it.

also from earlier last year, Recluse - Yellow Moon (Octagen Remix) Guitar + Piano + FX melody :) gorgeous btw |

Those two songs are two of my FAVORITES. hehe Foreplay...listen to it high while having said action...AMAZING
BTW, if it's two melodies, isn't it polyphony?
