Well guys, I haven't made a new song in a while. I started yesterday at work and I finished today since I got the day off. I know it's not great as I barely have time to produce but I honestly think this is my best work so far. It sounds ty but I started it with some Labtec speakers at work and then at home I used only 1 Behringer Truth...the other is damaged. Had to use then Logitech Z560s to make sure it wasn't horrible...this is the first trance song I finish. The title comes from a weird resonant sound I heard in my helicopter yesterday when starting the engines, hehe.:tongue2

I hope you guys like it and the ones that have heard my past stuff and reviewed it, hopefully you notice my improvement...slow but it's there. :) |

Hey guys, just messed a little with the song. Hopefully I get some feedback...I know the clap needs to go but I'm not sure what else. I know I'm not on par with pretty much everybody that produces here but blessed you guys are that have the time and the talent...from feedback I'll learn. :)

I know this is not trance...well...I think...it's a very weird style I guess. |

I think you've been listening to it for too long mate. Its actually pretty good and sounds quite trancy to me.
Only comment would be that it sounds a bit too formulaic, or maybe its just that its sounding a bit progressive. Prog always sounds generic to me. Maybe another melody or some pads over the top could make it sound trancier.
Yeah the clap sounds a bit funny. The reverb on it is too long to the point that its creating an echo. Sort of makes it sound muddy. Try a tighter reverb thats less noticable and lower the level on it. Its too loud at the moment I think?
Nice start though... Keep it up! |

| Thanks, brother...that helps a lot. Yeah, I guess I've been listening to it too long...I overanalize my productions way too much I think and that's why I never finish them or I'm never satisfied. If I had a production partner, it would be easier as four ears are better than two. What do you mean by formulaic? I really don't listen to trance that much, and before producing, I don't listen to any music so whatever comes out is my own style. Anyway, thanks for the comments...they help a lot. :) |

Hey, listening now. I like the gated pad type style, unique chords in there as well. High percussion elements sound eq'ed pretty well. The only thing is that I frown on that default fl studio kick :(. If that was different, I would love this track even more :p. I like that flip and reverse effect you do with your kick! Good stuff, your ambience is good and its getting there. Your clap effects remind me of my style. Cool break with sine waves at 2:14. That quick note change on your bassline really adds some depth to the track, gives it a cool vibe. I'm expecting a nice progression to flow here but it didnt happen :(. But... you did flow into a nice percussion driven part here at 3:16 which is awesome. This track has a vibe to it... a certain feel that i like. I think it's when those high notes hit on the gated pads. Awesome choice of notes. Are you in the army? Cause i get this serious army vibe to the whole track, which is cool :toocool:. Im real visual when it comes to listening to music... and i pictured like some plane runway overlooking the ocean during sunset, and theres one plane there, and im just standing by the plane, looking all around me, and the sun setting as the light glimmers over the ocean water.
Haha, i went off a bit there hehe but thats the vibe i get :tongue2. All in all, good prodction, It's got this cool vibe that stays with you even after the track is done. =).
//edit// you know what, im putting this on my mp3 player to listen while i trek to class in the morning.
Cheers man, and lots of props for working on this at the job and then more at home. Keep at it. If youve got time check out my latest remix of a track by Lance Thackeray called 'From The Outside'. Check it out here =)

Hey man, thanks a lot for the detailed comments...I'm glad the song made you feel good, hehe. Yeah, the kick royally blows...I really have no clue what I was thinking when I used it. I usually use punchier kicks. I''ll change it next time I get time off to produce...I'm usually at work. I'll check out your song and post comments. :tongue2
EDIT: Yep, I'm in the Army...been in for 5 years...one more to go, hehe, can't wait! |

Good question.. what do i mean? Hmm... Well I think its in the main lead synth. You have a fairly simple 'ascending' chord progression. It gives a really nice rise and feel to the track. Its not overly complicated and its works well. The thing is, I think a lot of trance tracks also use this style. Its not a bad thing since like you say, its your own style coming out. Also the gate effect you have on it is very typical of a lot of trance leads. I guess because it works, it gets used a lot, which is why I mentioned it as being formulaic.
Regardless, the track sounds good and its not something that I'd suggest you change, but it just kinda came into my head when I was reviewing it so I thought I'd mention it.
