hey people, heres me prob, i have a minidisc, but recorded about 10 discs and cant be bothered to record them anymore, as my only source of music is my pc, and as i have cable, its not practile to use MD as if download a 2hrs set, i have to spent 2 hrs recording it which i cant keep doing all the time, + i dont have the time to record them all, ive had it ages and dont use it, ive found a buyer for it and selling it this friday, so in return i want to buy an mp3 player, ive looked about and anything less than a gig in size is uselss, i dont want an mp3 cd player as they are too big, something the same size as the MD players out there, ive found the ipod (apple mac) which is ideal, 5 gig, one 5 gig HD, small, but mac only, i also found the archos 6 gig but is a con as it only comes with a 320 megs card, and one of them, so can u all help by finding and posting links if you can to an mp3 player with 1gig min capicity please??

thanks :)

Hey Coup

The problem with mp3 players is that they're either small (low on size) or bigger (but have large capacity).

They're generally either in the 64mb - 128mb range or 6gb+ range.
The smaller capacity = smaller size,
bigger capacity = Portable CD discman size.

I'm using the first Creative Labs Nomad - 64MB. I generally downgrade the tracks to about 64kb/s & then can store about 2 hours orso of music.

Do you might not get too much in the way of 1gb size, but possibly larger.

Give me an idea of what you're after & i can try & give suggestions (I used to work for Creative when the Nomad, Nomad II & Jukebox came out, so I know a fair bit about them)

thanks Widget, try, but all i found was the Archos 6000, which the only problem is size and weight, baffles me if u look at the ipod the size of it and look at the archos which is massive :(

I'd go for the Rio Volt MP3/CD player if u're looking for something close to 1GB. I have a Rio 500 and I'm pleased with it but it isn't working right now and I need software that will run on Windows XP.

as im sure ive said before (maybe same thread in diff forum??) i would go for the rio 800... 384bm on board.. which i think is more than enough unless ur planning on leaving the country for a while... go to www.diamondmm.com and go to 'buy' & its at the bottom of that page :)

I'd go for some of the mp3-cd-r-players. 700mb/disc - leech & burn.

i got a TDK Mojo mp3cd player. it play all my mp3 cds perfectly and it havent skip yet. it also play VBR and long live sets without skipping. the only problem is battery died to quickly and it wont fit in my pocket. it come with good headphones too.

I bought a RioVolt this summer... best thing I've bought in a long while. It's an MP3-CD player, so you never run out of space as long as you have more blanks to burn. Plays VBR and everything just like the Mojo, but the RioVolt is flash upgradeable, which is really nice since they put out upgrades every month or so. Battery life? 15 hours. Virtually skip proof, too.

hmm this jukebox is getting more and more temping, shame about the archos size, but knowing me ill splash out all that one one of them and some e will make one the size of the ipod but for windows :p
