How? What does the word "skydome" have anything to do with our culture? |

| Its a landmark built with public money that is unique to Toronto. |

Yeah, so changing the NAME really isn't a big deal, especially since "Skydome" is not a uniquely Torontonian word. The Roger's Centre will still be in Toronto, and I doubt people will think of it as any less of a Canadian landmark. |

Skydome is very uniquely Toronto. In fact the government ran a contest to the public so that it could be named. The winning name was Skydome. The skydome was a provincial project of archetecture and function which was built to be a landmark. The ACC is a carbon copy of every other arena out there.
To tell me that its not uniquely torontonian is like saying that the eiffel tower is not uniquely parisian (despite the knock off in vegas) |

Lame.
no wonder then that jayx1 is so concerned about it. :p
People who know it as the skydome will still refer to it as the skydome, so honestly who flippin cares what it's going to be called in the future ? Wanna complain about something...complain about people who make mountains out of every molehill. And no -- this particular molehill isn't historical either. |

Well if it was built anywhere else, I'm sure the people of that city would have come up with something very similar, due to it's architechture and function. Hello, the bloody thing has a retractable roof, of COURSE the people would come with a name like that. The point is, it's name has nothing to do with Toronto except that Torontonians voted for it. |

And the fact that it was a public building at the time.
Whats next? Shall we rename casa loma? |
