NHL Talks

So, what do you think. Talks went on today, and continued into the night, who knows, maybe they're still talking. But it's the 11th hour (or 11 hours 59 minutes) and they better come up with something. I'm not holding my breath, but I hope there is something, just for the sake of the game at the moment. If they cancel the season, they've sealed their fate for some years to come. Many Americans don't even care, yes there are the die hards, but I've spoken to a number who are fans and watch hockey, but they don't miss it, and will fill the void with something else, and may have forgotten about it all together. Remember after the baseball strike? Things were pretty bad for a while.

Yes I know there is plenty of hockey on, I'm not interested in watching it, I want to watch LEAF hockey, not just 'hockey'.

i don't think there'll be a season .. even if there was , there'd be more playoff games than regular season ones ..

i say they just forget about it and focus on a serious platform for next year to avoid this happening again ..

I don't care at this point...I'm watching my first hockey game of the season right now...Modo is on Sportsnet, lol.

Even if they salvage the season, I'm boycotting on principle...both sides are greedy as hell...incompetent owners who want "guaranteed" profit, even for owners who completely mismanage their club...and players thinking that they deserve to make millions whether or not their owner (who put up their own money to run the team in the first place) makes any money themselves (or loses money, in several cases).

stupid bastards...f them all. With all these millions going around...forget the owners and players money...how about a 50% TICKET PRICE CUT across the board so the REAL hockey fans can afford to go to a few games each year and sit in half-decent seats :whip:

Screw that. Junior A is way better and its $10 a ticket.

Personally, I think that the NHLPA shouldn't go for a cap under 50K, and especially a cap with revenue linkage. The NHL wouldn't have a revenue problem in the first place if Gary Bettman didn't give certain cities in USA teams to begin with.
And for those that are Leaf fans... even with a cap do you honestly think that the Teachers union (who owns the majority of stocks in the team) would lower ticket prices that much to make it affordable for the average family or person to go to games in the ACC???.... I doubt it.

The closest thing you'll get to that is watching the AHL, St. John's Maple Leafs... it's pretty good stuff. I've watched the Leafs beat the Hamilton Bulldogs 3 times this year.

i am a hockey fan but this bull had really been pissing me of to no end. the players are idiots the league are idiots. this season is definitely over.

the players are fighting over millions and millions of dollars. i bet the guys that are making less than the all stars don't give a rats ass either, they just want to play. the league are idiots because they are not willing to budge on this money issue but in fact they just ed up a whole year of revenue for all the teams and probably for years to come because the fans in the non-hockey towns like phoenix aren't going to care anymore.

The media's spent way to much time giving attention to these "meetings" that discuss nothing. If everyone turned their heads away for a bit these doofuses might actually come up with a solution. The hockey media's been feeding the fire.

If there wasn't expansion in the first place half those players would be making $60,000 in the AHL instead of an average 1.3 million in the NHL. Tonnes of players in the NHL now have no business being there anyway, all they do is clog the neutral zone.

Bottom line, the quality of hockey now compared to 10 years ago is crap, yet the average salary is 30-40% more. That's not right.

i think these 'talks' are just for show. think about it...lets say they make a deal and a season starts in 2 weeks. that's like 2 months of hockey and then the playoffs start..bah what a bunch of bull.

also, i really really really cant stand gary bettman!

steve.

The truth is we don't really know what they are talking about on those meetings. Sports these days are all based on money, media coverage, television broadcast's, radios, these enterprises are already losing millions of dollars already by this lockout.
