agreed, collaborations with Scott Bond have also made they lose credibility, they were far superior making wonderful tunes with emotion like 7 cities and solarcoaster and the new eastern sun |

read again, i said the tracks he keeps putting out are just as good, if not better than 'Outhouse', but none of them are ever going to be such hits. Holden rmx of 'The Sky Was Pink' is the only one to come remotely close, and still. 'Outhouse' was being dropped by everyone, despite being a techno/tech house type track. |

Anyway, this is pretty easily come by it seems because if a new (or not) artist has puts out a tune that makes it huge, all their stuff after that gets compared to it. It can be very hard to escape the shadow of a former hit.
Examples:
Nu-NRG - Dreamland
The Italian duo are still popular, but their tunes don't have the widespread appeal that Dreamland did. For a while it was the tune on the forums, and that simply wasn't true for, say, Butterfly or Connective.
Mirco de Govia - Epic Monolith
MdG put out a pretty solid album, and he's had his moments, but none have been the equal of Epic Monolith. In fact, his second single was a carbon copy of the PvD-championed epic. Hmm... PvD again? Maybe he has something to do with this trend.
Second Sun - Empire
Indeed... another PvD classic, but Second Sun evidentally decided that one anthem was enough for a career, and went on to try their hand at varyingly experimental tracks, neither of which attained a fraction of Empire's success (or quality, one could argue).
There are many other examples I'm sure, but these came to mind. Of course, it's nice to see the opposite happen too, and this isn't so uncommon. Mark Norman toiled in relative obscurity until Phantom Manor put them on the big stage. Markus Schulz was treading water until a few huge remixes got his name noticed anew. Picotto seemed to be on the way out until a bit of creative work from him and partner Ferri got them back on their feet (New Time, New Place). |

I disagree. The only version of Difference It Makes that cuts it is Petter's remix. Spinx/Motherload are far better. Besides, MFA have like two or three 12"s so far, bit too early to say that they'll never be as good as "back then". |
