Here is the fourth (and last - for now)track of my amber project.
Amber - Geist
DOWNLOAD
Been struggling with this for quite a few days, just didn't come out right. but i sat down tonight and in the end it was just how i wanted it to be, experimental, progressive breakbeat combines with classical elements, trancy elements and, yeah, just listen to it:)
watch out for my three track e.p., as soon as i mastered the tracks for cd burning, i will provide a download with all three tracks + cover.
thanks in advance for critics and comments and other things.
Cheers m8s,
Gabriel
Edit:
I uploaded the final version now, the link remains the same. Final version as it will be on the e.p. :) |

Hey Gabriel this is really good!
I'm writing this as I listen:
its a dirty funky lil monster - I'm loving it!
Good use of fx, and the percs of FANTASTIC.. they make me wanna boogie.
I'm too sure how I feel about the change at 3:44... i was enjoying the darker mood of the preceding part.
I think the break goes on for a bit too long, only because I'm itchting to hear the funky groove again!
I like how you subtly bring the bass back in.
Nice tune overall, and fine work doing something different - a fresh treat for the ears.
You've got a lot of talent - looking forward to hearing more,

This has the potential of becoming a massive piece of music, something I would expect to hear in the next Sasha & Digweed's Northern Exposure compilation. The melodic break part is amazing, those stings left me drooling all over my keyboard.
But there are a few things that just keeps thing tune, that’s just my opinion of course, from being perfect.
First the percussion, I understand it supposes to be breakbeat but there just isn’t enough variety in there, the same pattern from the intro to the end.
I think it might had been nice if it had some more driving elements inside, like some off beat hats…but that’s just a matter of taste I guess.
Another thing is the atmosphere which I think is just not there, of course that in the main part the whole feel it has is amazing, but I would like to feel that way trough the whole tune, not just in the main part…
Overall, this is quality EDM, defiantly the kind of music I can appreciate and relate to.
Will it be ok for me to try and remix this tune? I would really love to give it a go...
*EDIT*
Man, as I listen to your tune over and over again it just grows on me! That’s an amazing piece of art, those strings really sound and feel like real violins!!
One of the best tune I ever heard here on TA. |

thank you all so much! i really do appreciate your comments and suggestions!
my intention with that e.p. was to do three pieces of music. all three had to be a little different. one came out slower, one faster, one more experimental (that's geist).
but with all three tunes i wanted to create a blend of styles.
i just love trancy build-ups, evolving atmospheres, feelings that start to grow as you listen to the tune, more and more sounds are joining the whole track, and then it all breaks down and suddenly the "rush" is gone and there's just pure emotion created by sounds.
secondly i love breakbeats, but if you program them with too much variety, too much patterns that differ from the original one, i think the "flow" gets lost! so i made my music simple, straight forward and through that effective (i think :) )
after the break is gone i just love to start fading out the track, but in the tracks it take some minutes do that, that's just the way i like it.
i know that some people might think "why is there just one break that sounds good and nothing more?". that's why my breaks are longer than others and filled with beautiful things, like strings, violins, piano and stuff. then it continues.
i think i tell little stories with my tracks, stories of love maybe, stories of feelings, of hope and something like that.
now i hope that helped to understand my music better and why i did it just like that.:) :) |

- very nice electo/technoish breaks from the beginning
- strings at 3:15 work VERY nicely with breaks
- break down is very emotional and powerful, though it seems to me that some of those lead string melodies are a bit akward at times
- once again, break works nicely with melodic elements and enters the mix in an interesting way
- at times, i wished some of the kicks were stronger and with a deeper sub sweep
- your bassline, in comparison with the rest of the elements, is kind of boring i think
- ultimatly, pro stuff like ur other tracks |

This beat for more than 3 minutes makes me insane  ;) ... I'm sorry, it's just not so much my style. It's definately a great tune because I can see your work has a lot of qualities, plus the people in here seem to like it a lot.
Your strings are indeed just amazing! How did you do them? With Edirol Orchestra? Gotta know that :)
Technically, this is nothing I could complain about at anytime, though in my opinion the beat could atleast be spiced up with better saturated sounds instead of these thin "clicky" sounds... |
