P Diddy & EDM scene ??
View this Thread in Original format
DJ STEEVROCK
Did anyone read that article from a Uk dj magazine regarding P. diddy getting down and into the EDM scene. I believe it was an interview with p diddy and how he plans to support Erick morillo and start producing EDM music.

As up and coming local producer, I respect p. diddy as business man and as a producer. But then again I dont like the fact that hes trying to exploit another music genre to gain riches. Also I dont think he sees EDM as we TAs normally would but sees it as a product or another way to capitalize. EDM to me has always been a passion and my escape from the norm (lack or a better word). At this point Im neutral with P. Diddy being the game. For the following reasons:

Money (help local US producers get signed)
Many big lables will jump on the bandwagon or pay more attention
May help expand EDM
Hes hasnt produced anything yet so I cant make an accurate judgement

SO.....What do TAs think???

P. Diddy and EDM

GOOD :D or BAD :nervous:

if you saw him at Ultra in Miami last year you'd know how much people didn't welcome his presence on stage!

The day rap/hip-hop gets involved with trance in any way shape or form, I quit.

yea in like november's issue of mixmag it has an interview with him
he's working with felix the housecat and morrillo basically
he says he used to go to factory back in the day when junior was there and all this
p-diddy always re-invents himself and trys new things which is smart
but lets just hope p-diddy stays on the house side of things
i cant imagine his voice in a trance song lol
djdl
imo, if he makes good quality trax, i have no problem

pharell would be an excellent house music producer

i like diddy....

the cool thing about EDM is that it already DOES experiment with different genres of music. edm is like a big ball of influences from pop, rock, latin, etc etc...so i see no problem in him producing EDM.

as far as him doing this "just for the money," that is complete bs. the man is one of the wealthiest entertainers as it is, he is truly doing this just because it interests him. plus he helped out on deep dishs track awhile ago- lets get ill???

i say, diddy, make us proud!

I dont mind if Diddy gets involved, I just dont want all the queer ass gangbangers to tag along with him.

One other thing, I dont mind if the music gets alittle more publicity, I just dont want it being exploited to the point of no return, I like the fact that its our cozy little community. One thing I could see though, is maybe a syndicated EDM radio station.

i couldent have said it better myself, i dont want trance to be as popular as hip-hop is nowadays, but i want more people to understand that its not so called "rave music" where you have to be on drugs to do it

I feel the same way, i respect the man but i don't want him getting involved with EDM just for kicks and cash... I'd honestly make a huge deal about this... like i'd go on trl and i'd hold up a huge sign saying "diddy, stay away from edm please, thanks."
I think what i fear the most is somewhere down the line hip hop and edm are gonna merge in someway and people are gonna like it and all of a sudden you have all this hip hop homeboys and homegirls talking about edm like they know what the hells goin on.... I honestly don't want it to happen and i will take strong action against it.

Let me clear something up, i wouldn't mind if puff daddy, p diddy, sean diddy colmes, daddy puffer or whatever gets into it and makes good tracks but like vlad said, i don't want these in homeboys to tag along, that i'm STRONGLY against... like.. i'd probably start killing people.... ironic isn't it...
And YES pharrel would be a good house music producer but... Just picture if all of our loved dj's flipped it on them. Sorry but if Ozgur, Sasha, Sander, Ferry, Probspot all these producers (and a helluva lot more) would start producing hip hop beats i feel like it would be taken to a WHOLE other level that all these beat makers didn't even know existed... but thats just my opinion. I see rap beats as 2d beats, i see edm tracks as 10,000D... it would be too easy.
