Whisling synths? come on dude are you even a producer? They're sinewaves. They can be generated by ANY synth... not just a 3xosc fruityloops synth. Quit being a preset kiddy and learn some synthesis. Lemme guess, I haven't used fruity 3xosc but is there a sine preset called "whistly synth"?

Not a very compelling review coming from a fellow producer, sorry I was harsh on ya... sounds like a review I'd expect from an FL noob. Or you think I'm the noob who can't handle big producer vocabulary? You don't need to play any games with me, man. Eh whatever I guess I'm in a talkative mood today. :) :toothless

unnecessary but okay... sorry my vocab isn't up to par with your genius synthesizer abilities. My review wasn't detailed because I'd think that maybe 8 pages of review would be enough for you (actually scale that doen to 2-3 since every post on this thread is followed by one from you to bump). Even so, 2-3 pages worth of criticism is far more than this curded milk deserves (key changes... c'mon). I honestly expected far more from someone who likes to brag about his "extensive" knowledge of music theory. You have more than one sine wave in this song so I figured I would describe in nonprofessional language which one it is and you definately figured which one it is, and i obviously did get my point across.

but okay, if you don't want reviews from this "flp noob" i would be glad not to waste my time, i was throwin in my 2 cents, i'm glad to see that you appreciated it. good luck on signing "floating" (or is it "floater" ??), i'm sure dj sammy will throw down this dancefloor thriller at es paradis next summer for the 2 people that will be there.

LOL... thrown back a corker of a reply there EtherealSL - respect!

Yeah, that was a good counter-burn, hehe. Man, this track rocks...so mellow...but I still don't get why it gets me in a weird mood when it has a happy mood itself. I guess it's the little sines combined with the slow strings that make my brain take them the wrong way, haha. :tongue2

Don't have to get all anal about it. I just hate being compared to Fruityloops synths, for various reasons I won't get into right now.

Since when did I brag about my extensive knowledge of music theory? DJ Virgen was just pointing out that he heard an out-of-tune note and I analysed it to find out what he meant. ooh I guess I shouldn't post anything related to music theory, since that would mean I'm bragging.

Yeah thanks... I'll send this to DJ Sammy... he'll have truckloads of fun playing it.

People seemed to really like you when you were making every change requested... the second you stand up for yourself, either musically or professionally, everyone gets all upset and thinks you're a snob. I get it all the time =)

The 3xosc synth from FL-Studio is a piece of trash (in my opinion) so I can understand being offended when someone thinks you used one of its presets. It can do some cool things but 99.9% of the time it'll sound like crap.

Your response to my out-of-tune comment was rather deep, and there are probably some readers who don't understand it so they start calling names. I've learned to filter out people who start calling names because they aren't doing anything but ruining music, so try not to take it personally.

As far as the "hard" sine wave synth going on, I would drop some of the higher freqs just a little bit to help keep ears from bursting blood vessels. On a synth like this, you're going to want to take a very close look at a spectrum analyzer to find any particular notes that are peaking out the frequency so you can drop that particular frequency down a notch or two. High-resonance synths such as this one can be tough to master but, like you said, that's up to the label right?

The beginning still has an "out of tune" or "wrong note" feel to it, but I'm getting used to it now... I think it was just the initial first few listens where it felt wrong.

This would make a great track to end a looooooong set so people would head home with a positive glow. I like the update much better despite the key changes. Again, good job, very positive glowing production. Looking forward to more from you.
State of Matter
:stongue:

Difference between holding your ground and being obnoxious. Saying "c'mon man, are you even a producer?" is unnecessary, as stated.

Try this next time. "Oh ok, the sine wave. Nah its not 3xOsc, it's [whatever]. I disagree with your suggestion."

Most of the time, if people think you sound like a snob, you are, but are too snobbish to admit it.

About the track:

Agree that its very close to alt f4, not necessarily a bad thing. Nice melodies and ideas. Nothing new or exciting but it does what it needs to do, nice track. Good luck with it.

a great track, in deed. congrats! you did an excellent job! :D

I'm only kidding when I make comments like "come on man"... Sorry if I came off the wrong way, but if I really wanted to be serious about it, I would have put a Smilie beside with an angry face instead of a goofy, light one. I only got serious at the second post when he took it wrong, and I do hate being compared to fruity synths (sorry). I guess you learn something new everyday, or maybe I just suck at trying to be funny.

As for the bursting of blood vessels in the sines. I've heard this track everywhere including the car and I don't hear the sines being too loud. Maybe my ears are being subjective, but like I said before sines are usually the hardest thing to fit in the mastering correctly. Anybody who uses them Whiteroom, PPK, Markus Schulz, ect on some speakers/headphones they sound really loud that you're like (agh!!) on others you're like "turn it up dude"... but most speakers they sound like they were intended.

I'll definately keep all the advice I get, but so far the theory one, the remove key chain one, and the sine's volume seem kind of picky, taste-varying to me, so I'm not really in a rush to change that.

you have an interesting sense of humor... i never knew slamming people when they try to provide some criticism was the new generation of humor... if that's the case, then my entire reply was me kidding, too... funny, right???

why? is fruity some sort of program for amatures and noobs, now?? Just because someone uses reason or cubase or whatever doesn't make autmatically make anybody a better producer (many big names use flp for their productions). Your sinewave synth can be easily be recreated with a simple fruity synth (that doesn't mean your synth is bad, but that's the first thing i thought of when i heard it) ONCE AGAIN, you understood exactly what i meant, so what's the problem in that?

hahaha...Dj Sammy...When I think of Alt+f4 I think of Dj Sammy. When I think of this song I think of alt + f4. Hmmm...yup, this is just another cheeser ;). I agree with Ethereal.
gerrycueto
cheese is good sometimes! :P I like cheese once in a while... and make it too once in a while... :) whatever... of course this is not a dancefloor rocker, but it's a nice cheeser to relax to... like David said could work well for one of the first tracks to play in a DJ set.
