With a plethora of labels all vying for the public’s attention, quantity can sometimes overpower quality. One label that has been churning out releases of the highest quality on a monthly basis is Sander Kleinenberg’s Little Mountain imprint. For his fourteenth release he heads over to Italy and the talents of Alessandro Ripamonti (A&R at Oxyd Records), Shield and Cristiano Massera.
The Italian trio pull out an infectious, guitar-laden monster that has won support with a plethora of top DJs, including Pete Tong who made it his Essential New Tune in October. ‘808’ is perhaps a little too effeminate to be classed as progressive, but that certainly does not make it a bad track. Tightly produced, this track pushes all the right buttons. The dub version is the pick of the bunch, although the vocals of Tom Glide on the radio edit will undoubtedly bring some more mainstream support.
Sander kicks off 2005 with quality releases from Psycatron and Roccomundo & O.N.N.O and just when you thought he couldn’t keep the ball rolling, he pulls yet another rabbit out of the hat. Little Mountain remain the most consistent label of the moment.
