You're Canadian loser! lol

Well, that's the thing isn't it? That's why this thread doesn't apply to N.America but just America as not one ing Canadian claims to be a local/ born and raised ("on the playground is where I spent most of my days"). SO ALL THE HOT CANADIANS CLAIM TO BE FROM EUROPE DECENT ANYWAYS!

(p.s margs thats you, hot Canadian claiming to be Polish)
StereoPrincess

out of all people, i don't CLAIM to be of Polish decent. I know what you are talking about, tho. All those people, "I'm half Polish, half French" I'm a quarter this and one third that.

Ok, so if you were in Greece, and someone asked "where are you from". What would you say?

I don't necessarily think a passport dictates nationality.

"i'm from Poland and i live in canada."

passport dictates nationality, that's why there is that piece of info there.
halo20
How long have you lived in Poland?
StereoPrincess
10 years.

plus pretty much until the end of highschool since my parents don't speak english.

There was a good debate about nationality in another one of Jax1's threads'. (hard to believe) And a good picture with Jack Straw / and that Muslim cleric ("the hook") arguing that nationality/ identity is justified by state of mind.

But that might actually support your argument.

so if I moved to Japan and spoke to only English speaking people would that mean I hadn't really left the country and wasn't really living on the other side of the planet.

See I have to agree with Halo here on this one...I hate this stupid question of nationality....your nationality is Canadian if you're a Canadian citizen and youre BACKGROUND is of something else.

Unless of course you're a national of a different country. So for example...I have Canadian and Israeli citizenships but if I go traveling somehwere and someone asks me where i'm from I'll obviously say Canada and that I'm Canadian....what my background is, is a complitely different story.

I hate it when i'm talking to someone on MSN or whatever they go with some STUPID nicknames such as HOT ITALIAN or PORTUGUESE or something blah...meanwhile they were born in Canada and have never stepped foot in Portugal and Italy...YOU ARE CANADIAN YOU FOOL! And then they ask me what nationality I am... :p

So in StereoPrincess' case, I guess she's like me - I'm Isareli-Canadian but if someone asks me nationality i'd say Canadian...I hate all those fakers. If you are are only a Canadian citizen YOU ARE CANADIAN!

halo20
p.s I didn't realize you had been in Poland for that long (re: 10 years). Mainly because I consider you (based on cultural attributes) to be as Canadian as I am.

So I take it almost personally when people quickly denounce their Canadian upbringing (if not birth heritage). But I may have just answered my own question, THAT IS CANADIAN culture, not really being a homogeneous heritage.

Whatever, Canada rules.

cheeky bitch! ;) hah That's not what I was trying to say. If I had moved to Japan when I was 10, and had grown up in and around (whilst also contributing to...) Japanese culture until I was 25 (now becoming a Japanese Citizen). Then I would find it difficult to claim Canadian-only heritage, I would owe (if only out of respect) it to Japan to at least claim it helped raise me in someway or another.

I do see your point tho, I can see how tricky national identity is.
