Another bunk HTFR story a.k.a. How HTFR slayed me so hard....

So I know, HTFR is balls, they aren't good at all, and they shouldn't be trusted, but I disregarded that knowledge because they supposedly had a record I've wanted a LONG time, the Lexicon Avenues remix of "Only When I lose Myself" by Depeche Mode. After a lot of careful deliberation and warning from friends that it could only be a bootleg, I said it, I can't find this record from anywhere else (Now available at Chemical Rec ords, but I presume it's the same bootleg), so I bought it.
I got the record today... Here's the list of what's not right:
1. Appears to be someone else's interpretation of the Lexicon Avenue mix, and not the Lexicon Ave. mix itself, i.e. sounds very similar, but it's organized differently.
2. Record skips in two places, can't seem to figure it out.
3. Record is as warped as I've ever seen a record.
4. The sounds quality is unbelievably atrocious. The shear number of clicks/pops is absurd and the vocals sound like someone is holding a pillow to Dave Gahans face.
I tried to bring it and my turntable to the studio at school and record a digital copy to clean up, but even so, I can't get the record to stop skipping.
So basically, I wasted $30 USD for a record that is completely unusable in any and all sense of the word, and add to that, I've basically given up on any chance of getting a copy of this record.
Today I am a sad DJ (Albeit to a certain extent it is my fault.).

| Is it blue? I got that same track from another record store. It sucked when I first played it and realized I could never play it again because it has so many clicks and pops.. =/ |

I had something on my 'wish list' which i have been after for a few months.
Last tuesday-9am- i got email notification it was back in stock.
Within 5 mins i had paid for it online.
When you buy something from there, you get a chance to leave feedback comments and suggestions for them.
I left
1) instant stock updates- so when something is sold it shows up as sold
2) same day shipping.
mentioned that most of their competitors did it and it wasnt too much to ask.
Well stone me- within a few hours i got an email from them....:

Unlike our competitors our website is updated every minute or sooner (almost in
real time) with the latest stock availbility. However items can still go out of
stock while your order is being received or waiting to be picked (be it just 15
mins) as our store is also open to the general public (i.e we cant secure your
items until we have picked them from our shelves). This is why we state in the
agreed terms and condtions that all orders are subject to stock availability
(i.e what is in stock and in good condition at time of picking) :)
The only way to fix this "problem" is to close our store or seperate our stock
into mail order/shop only. We wont do this as we like to give customers the
chance to try before they buy any items we sell, and think it would be unfair to
only sell items to mail order or shop only.
Most orders placed before 1pm are shipped the same day, subject to how many
orders we receive (dont forget that we tend to process 2 to 3 times as many
orders as our closest competitor). We always try to process your order as soon
as possible regardless of what shipping option you choose, and only charge you
for items shipped.

Fair enough- at least they read the comments.
Chemicals updates in realtime, as does junos. Chemicals warehouse is also bigger than htfrs shop. Stating in an email they do process same day, and then me waiting 4 days to be processed just takes the piss.
This was last tuesday
I recieved an email on saturday that it was being processed and shipped, and it is now wednesday (7 whole days later) and i STILL havent recieved it.
When you consider i can place an order with chemical, juno, tuneinn and half the people on ebay (myself included, as i always ship same day) right up to 5pm, and it will get it on my doormat the next morning - quite frankly their service is utter wank.
Cant comment on the quality until it gets here- but i know for a fact they do dodgy represses and bootlegs- if its another one of those they have sent me i will go f*cking nuts.
Useless- save the hassle and set fire to a bundle of notes instead |

another forum i visit have taken action about the crap that is hard to find records.
many of the members emailed watchdog about htfr's ways.
they now know that they arent exactly favorites for vinyl aanymore as i and many members were threathened with legal action. they also demanded the removal of the anti htfr from the forum.

gawd!!! i honestly thought HTFR was a good place to buy stuff. I reciently purchased a single from Gut Records from the UK, and the site didn't mention it was the cd version. After i've received the cd, i e-mailed Sara and she was very kind and understanding, so she mailed me a copy of the 7" single at no cost to me! :) Great label, great music, great service! :D
just wish there was more shops/labels like that... :conf: |

Yep, Blue Record, unplayable... I've wanted this track for sooooo long, and I've gotten absolutely no response from Lexicon Ave. on any kind of official release after I've tried to contact them several times... I mean we're talking like 2 years I've been trying to get this record, and now it just seems like I'll never get a copy worth even putting on a deck...
The clicks and pops were so bad I couldn't even edit the track well enough with the help of one of my school's music production professors & a Pro Tools console, which still doesn't change the fact that the track skips at the end, so I'd have to chop it after the second break, and well before the outro.
Oh well, such is life... any leads on a quality copy of this track would be appreciated via PM or email...

dude, chemical still has it in stock, so pick it up there...They only sell fresh vinyl, so it *should* be fine. |
