Underworld. From Born Slippy to Cowgirl, Pearl's Girl to Dirty Epic... their unique sound can never be put inside a genre box. Live, they are surreal, surpassing all boundaries of music.
Discussion over. Underworld wins. |
Agreed. Underworld :whip: all.
Others i'd have to toss into the mix,
Chemical Bros
Prodigy
Ministry
Front242
Frontline Assembly
Art of noise(never liked them much but can't deny their influence)
Trance is my favorite but i can't think of any that have made as much of a difference to the electronic music genre in general as those listed above. |

Radiohead are not electronic.

They have always been 5 people... Thom vocals, Phil drums, Jonny guitar, Ed guitar, and Colin Bass. They may have had 4 people at some point, but thier first album was recorded with 5 members, and they have always had 5 members since then. In fact they used a different name before they recorded that album, so I can say for sure that Radiohead never had 4 members.
Their Kid A album was one of the most important things to happen to electronic music after 1995.
Get a ing clue. |

Agreed.
While Radiohead may not be strictly an electronic group, and can perhaps be easily grouped as a progressive rock band, they frequently include electronica-type sounds and production methods in their work. This qualifies them for the poll in question.
Honestly, for you to say progressive rock groups and other groups who arent strictly electronic music don't belong in this poll reveals how closed minded your view of the genre really is. For you to criticize Radiohead while leaving groups such as Pink Floyd and Portishead untouched really weakens your argument and makes it look like more of a personal preference (or vendetta) than a legitimate claim.
Id also like to remind everyone that nominations close in 5 days. If you have any pressing suggestions or you just want someone from the list whose vote total is too low for your tastes, voice them! |

So now we can nominate anyone who includes any electronic elements in their songs? This is just turning sad.
So if there was a best rock group poll we should include Moby right because I mean he has a few rock elements in his songs.
Almost all music has some type of electronic influence or is mastered on a computer so it lets just include any and all artists  |

No one forced you to read the thread or nominate :). Many artists use electronic production elements, but those elements are preformed by people paid by either the stuido or label. In this case, those are the names you should be nominating. For example, the American pop band Train often has synthesized strings and precussion production elements in their songs but these are not done by the band themselves, rather by a pair paid by the label. In this case, i would nominate them, and not Train the band, choosing instead to say that said producer(s) has worked with Train (and other notable names they have worked for). |

| pink floyd should be in a category of its own..and its progressive rock ..maybe it had influences on electronica but thats it. i dont see how it could be considered best electronica artist. just my 2 cents. |
