If a police officer attempts to prosecute you for something, say speeding, and they are driving a car with no road tax displayed, they have broken the law and therefore, you could argue that the evidence is inadmisable under the Police and criminal evidence act. Section 78 I think.or is it 73 or 76. anyway, it basically states that police can't just act willy nilly in blatant disregard of the law in order to get evidence.
If they have to withdraw the evidence of the police constable, they have no case.
It is also worth noting, that many coppers park on the motorway hardshoulder or slip road. This is an offence. It is covered under one of the motorway regulations. I complained about tis very act and the chief constable replied stating that North yorkshire police weren't supposed to park on the hard shoulder of a motorway designated road.
I have yet to play this card in court.

I didn't mean actual signs for the speed, i was meaning the signs which let drvers know that the camera van is there. :) |

| when you get fined ask the police to prove that there cameras where properly caliberated. 9 times out of 10 they wont no what to say and let you off scot free :D |

what about those little mounds next to the hard shoulder that say police patrol vichales (or similar) only, they actually allowed to park up there? |

Yes they are, those are designated for police only.
U can dispute a mobile camera van if its parked on double yellows for example cos again they are breaking the law, you need evidence too thou so make sure you get a picture of it, its number plate and clearly showing it parked on double yellows.
If any police vehicle is parked illegally or the car is illegal then that can not prosecute you as they are breaking the law themselves to obtain evidence (aspointed out in Lam's post)

Yep, you can take pics of them if they are on plain view, marked cars and uniformed officers where ever they are.
They sometimes don't like it spesh if they are flouting the law themselves but there is no law to say you can not take thier pic.
