State of Matter - Crystal Rain [4 min 192 kbps sample]

First thing i've made in a month. This very much reflects my current style, slightly more energetic than my more recent work, but just as relaxing and uplifting. Anyways, hope you enjoy.

This is beautiful, mate, but it needless to say, i think:D

Anyway, i think it still needs another melody on top of it, with a thrillseekers like synth, nothing complex just some 3-4 note melody i would say, it would glue the whole thing together,

the strings are beautiful as always, bassline could be a bit more driving, though, but all in all great track,

lemme know once you have finished this one off

:)

Sweet track dude. I've been very impressed by your other productions and this is no exception. Drives along nicely and isn't as synthy/airy sounding as a lot of uplifting trance these days. (a good thing imo)

The strings are very nice and the pad that comes in at 1.50 is just magic. Good work =)

Good going overall.

I'm feeling lots of "sparkle" in the high range and i feel like i'm getting a bit of hiss (just might be mp3 compression). I really like your synths though.

Quality stuff sir. And a good break down as well. The strings are okay, there are MUCH better than others I've heard.

I really dig it. Keep it up.

EDIT: I <3 the drums and piano at 3:10 wayyy coooooollll

it is definitely sparkly in the highs, but i dunno if its a good thing, maybe just cut em back a touch. the bass could stand to come out a bit more too. love that deep saw pad, you do that sound so well. You have some sort of weird squeak at 1:13 when the strings fade in. strings are beautiful. i think the bass maybe a bit too growly for this melodic style, but maybe its just me. snare could come up quite a bit in the breaks section. beautiful piano, and it doesn't sound out of tune! maybe my hearing works now.....

sorry, my comments seem a lil negative. i think this is a beautiful melodic piece with a lot of potential. the sounds are all greati think it just needs a second look on the mastering/levels side of things.

another class track. keep it up

Sounds good, love those strings again! Though, for me, not your best job so far I think... The whole mix seems a little less 'maintained' - don't know how to describe exactly how it feels to me. It feels like there's nothing really dominant about the mix at all times, though this might be your intention?

I know it would seem like I'm a bit frustrated about this, but I'm only wondering when people are gonna start babbling about the lack of sounds that you didn't use in a previous track and how it sounds 'like yourself'... Personally, I don't mind at all since it's nice to recognize some SoM music ;)

Cheers,
Wim

all your instruments are awesome, it's sad that we can hear the kick :( same goes for the bass, maybe filter out a bit more the reverb you have on your 'high instruments'.

the strings at 1:30 are maybe a bit short and i dont like the feeling that it gives to them, please check the ADSR again !

the climax is superb tho ! i really dig your style. beautiful pads.

dude, how do you come up with all those incredible melodies?! gorgeous track again.. just have a look at the strings during the breakdown, they do not sound full enough to me.

anyway, great work

Thanks a lot for the feedback guys!

I'll have another look at the weight of the sound spectrum later to see if I can't balance the highs and lows a little more. The accoustics in my dorm room are .

Pete: I think another melody would cause this to sound too busy and detract from the main idea of the track.

Wim: Yeah, I'm more about atmosphere and mood than I am about dominance and establishing a lead.

Yeah, i've used all of these sounds before. I'm not too too worried about it though because I think (or atleast hope) that my style stands out enough from the mainstream for that not to be a problem.

I've never been worried either... Just that other people seem to be hehe :)

I really dig your style, always a pleasure to hear more.

Well when it all came in I really needed to get used to the soaked wet strings in there hehe. Maybe less reverb and less delay could work. Very twinkly sounding indeed. I'd try to move the synths back lower in the spectrum and then you can give the percs more body as well...?

Nice track alltogether m8.
