browser hijacker

| i'm having major problems with my home page due to browser hijacker. my home page default is msn.com. but everytime i log in it goes to about:blank. i've had this problem before, but the program i used before i can longer get access to. i've downloaded microsoft antispyware beta 1. however it removes the hijacker, but as soon as i log off and log in again it goes back to about:blank. :whip: very annoying. could someone please help me. need a program that is free and is going to eradicate the problem!! thank you. |

It's that a browser hijacking? :conf: And what's so annoying about having a blank page as your browser home? :conf: I mean, you don't have zillions of popups going on each time you open the browser, and you can go wherever you want without being prompted to bookmark any webpage.
But if you think that's a proper browser hijacking, try Spybot Search & Destroy. |

| all hijack this does is a free scan. it does not delete the problem. any ideas? i need something that's free and deletes the problem. |

HijackThis is used to MANUALLY repair your registry, which is probably what was affected. |

Sorry. I don't have any instant messenger services on this computer.
Also, I'm afraid I can't really help you past letting you know that HijackThis is probably the most useful piece of software that you can use. For the best results, it's necessary that your computer is offline and then you run HT. Look through the list of files and, if possible, copy and paste all of them to the forums. We can help you after you do that. |

teegee's mom's computer had the same problem with about:blank
went to safe mode, closed all apps and processess and ran that
worked like a charm |

| if you have windows xp, use system restore. hopefully you created restore points before this happened. |

| yeah thanks for your help people. i've now got another problem as in uninstalled msn messenger then installed it again. however i don't seem to have the tool bar for some reason. anyone help me? |
