| I was wondering what everything thinks is the best harware synth available on the market right now. |

There is no such thing as the best synthesizer.. Is there a "best car"? Nope, a Porsche would get its ass kicked if it was racing against a Land Rover in the outbacks.
If you only want one synth, you should probably go for a Virus or a Supernova.. If you want lots of synths then go for the ones you like the most ;) |

you may want to use the search since there are a million and one threads on this topic.
as for an answer, erikc pretty much has it spot on - there is no 'best' synth. 'best' is entirely subjective. dont like bassy, dark sounds and synths that have many of their features inside LED sub menus? you wont like an access virus. dont like characteristically bright, harsh sounds? probably wont want a nord lead then. dont like grainy, typically soft type leads and pads? novation supernova is not up your street. hate cold, digital hard type sounds? you will hate the waldorf q.
it all comes down to the types of sounds you want to make. and which types of sounds you like.
as such you would probably find that reading user reviews for synths over at harmony central much more useful. and even better still, if you can try all of them out in store before you buy one you can get a feel for yourself which one you like best. |

| What kinds of synths produce the types of sounds that armin, tiesto, pvd, and ferry would use? If you have any insight that would be great. Thanks. |

These are the hardware synths that Armin uses:
Roland JD990
Novation Supernova II
Roland JV2080 expanded
Korg MS2000R
Alesis Andromeda
Access Virus A
Access Virus C
Yamaha FS1R
Yamaha TX81Z
Roland JP8080
Roland TR909
Clavia Nordlead 3
Roland JX8P
Roland JD800
But the best hardware synth is the Virus Ti.. It is worth every cent! |

the virus TI isnt even out yet so this kind of statement is really misleading. add to that the fact that it is essentially a virus c with higher polyphony, a new oscillator (hypersaw) and wavetables (ala wavestation). thus, if you dont like the 'virus sound' (typically warm, dark, fat, bassy and aggressive) you wont like any virus synths. |

Yes ofcourse. Ive only seen a 45 minute demonstration of it.
Maybe i should have processed that sentence a bit different, but that kind of mistakes happen when you write 'on-the-fly'..
btw: ive seen those Access virus software synths for Pro tools.. are they just as good as the hardware ones? has anyone tried them?

| yes. virus powercore has some features removed from the virus b but for all intents and purposes they sound pretty much identical. |

45 minute demonstration of it? Where? |

First: that's not a 45 minute demonstration. Unless by 45 you meant 15.
Second: I've seen it before.
Third: I wasn't impressed by the demo.
I know the Virus TI can pack a knock out punch, but that demo did nothing more then throw a light jab. |

If you look at the website, you can find a bunch of demo songs. also, you can find the 'patch-player' on the left menu. those sounds impress me a lot, but the demo is just dumb. a stupid guy creating very ugly sounds. people get scared when they see this demo. lol
'the average scary man can make ugly sounds with this virus. buy it!':D
Do NOT buy any synth until you have tried it personally, unless you really really know what it is. thats my advice
but i agree to the first statement.. it was not 45. heh. i was so bored when i saw that demonstration, so it felt like 45 or so.
