I believe it's when something reminds you of something else. Like when a colour reminds you of a song or a smell reminds you of a place.

It's actually far more interesting than that. Synaesthetes (or "synesthetes," the term for people with synaesthesia) will actually taste sounds or hear colors.

i heard a good definition of it once, its when one sense invokes the feeling of another, as flyboy said, tasting blue, seeing the bassline of a track, whatever.
what track was that from, "synaesthesia showing blue, aquaman knows what to do"? |

If synaesthesia is what you say it is, I know "how" to experience it. :)
There are some tracks that I listened to a lot in past, and then stopped.
After some time has passed, when I listen to them again, I can tie those tracks to occasions, events, people, smells, flavours, feelings and such. :tongue2 |
