the production level of hip-hop beats these days, is through the roof! thats where all the effort goes these days, the lyrics suck, but the beats are absolutly amazing. very well produced.

hip-hop producers could give EDM producers a run for their money, remember a hip hop track is shorter, and less involved, but they also have to produce way more tracks.

aslo if a hiphop beat was as involved, or full as a trance tune, it wouldnt sound right with a MC overtop.

educate yourself, and then talk about music.

Yeah, just because its not as inovled as EDM productions, hip-hop holds its own. Kanye West, Dj Premier, Dr.Dre, Beatnuts, Hi-Tek, Scott Storch, Pete Rock, Madlib, Ant, Koolade Croatia and etc. All excellent producers.

It's come to the point where mainstream hip-hop acts focus on the beats and therefore lyrics are garbage. In the underground, words mean way, way more than the beats. Strangely, underground is good in beats as well as in lyrics. More dedication.

some of the best beats ive ever heard were underground french hip hop tracks from Quebec, in Canada. I cant understand french, but the beats are sick as hell.

the biggest problem with rap, is that i got into for the lyrics, and a story, and thats gone:(...if i wanna listen to a beat, ill just cross over to EDM.

dont sell me half a beat with a 1/3 of a lyric, and call it rap, thats just disrespectful!

Stories and good lyrics are still alive and kickin' man. Check out the underground artists. I posted the hell out of the following on these boards whenever we discusses hip-hop, but here, I'll list them again. I'm sure you know some of them, but underground is where its at.

Masta Ace
Cormega
Brother Ali
Vakill
Immortal Technique
Slug
J-Live
MF Doom
Murs
Dead Prez

and many many more.

Why do you review pop albums when you're into 'underground'? =)

Makes no sense to me, what did you expect out of this anyway

Obviously you didn't read the first lines of my post. I posted it due to the fact that the beef 50 is having with The Game, Fat Joe, Jadakiss and Nasa is blowing up over radio stations and . Also, one person got shot and a house where 50s management was got shot up as a retaliation. I gave the album a listen coz i wanted to hear "Piggy Bank" which is the diss track. Then i realized this man is out of his right mind and that his album is crap.

To be honest, 50s first album was entertaining.

I don't like much commercial rap since so much is coming out but I liked Get Rich or Die Trying. The whole G-Unit thing is just sad though, it used to stand for so much more, his underground style with his crew but now it's a laughing stock and said everywhere to mock rap.

The start with everyone, Game started beef with Jay Z not too long ago, as if they think they'll become better rappers by challenging rap moguls like Jay Z and Nas.

This album looks interesting, I'll probably check it out just to hear which of the 1 or 2 tracks I'll listen to off it.

You're on crack man. That track is as wack as it gets. The whole sampling of the Batman theme is cheesy as hell. In no way is it innovative. Listen to Eminem's words, its so stupid. The hook is even worse with the high pitched vocals and that high synth. No disrespect, but you really don't know anything about hip-hop if you believe that track is worth anything.

Ok, so becuase our tastes and opinions differ, that makes me unknowledgable? Right ...

I give him props for A Baltimore Love Thing. He really surprised me. If he had more of this on album, he would be nice. G-unit used to be like this back in the days. Its sad.

That's why I listen to very little hiphop and what I do listen to is mainly stuff that isn't played on the radio. G-unit was good when it was all underground but not g-unit stands less for guerilla and more for something a little more laughable.

I'd much rather listen to hiphop with more meaning in the lyrics, or at least better beats or better lyrics ie. Big L, Gangstarr, K-OS Nas, Jay Z, etc.
