Oh god, well trance is not dead.
It is still as big, just not exactly like 1999. Bring back those days. But they wil be back. Trust me if you lok around these forums you will find many good tracks from this year. |

| If Tiesto changes style (ever heard of Urban Train?) there will be other djs, there are always new talents.. I'm not afraid that Trance will die, au contraire! |

I dont agree trance is dead as such, but i do agree there is a severe lack of groundbreaking tracks right now.
T
heres lots of good tracks out there yes, but i mean, it seems like less and less that i listen to a track for the first time, and u know the feeling yourself, just feel like crying cuz it is that good.
That was what 1999 was all about really.
/me cries as the memories pour in. |

Ack, stop being so nostalgic. :)
You all sound like those 70's heavy-metal throwbacks who can't come to terms with the fact that their time has passed and that music must necessarily change. :)
The trance of 1998/99 is gone, let's just accept it and move on with our lives. Times are different: that particular kind of trance had its time, but it's dead, let's move on. 1998-99 was a great time, but we can't replicate it by clinging our trance nation 1 cd's to our chests and hoping that we can revive a horse that's been flogged to bloody death already.
Maybe those in the US are a bit different, since you've been sheltered from the whole electronic music scene for a while, but I for one am hoping that the 1998-99 "epic, uplifiting, melodic" type trance dies gracefully, instead of having lame wannabe's producing unimaginative trance-by-numbers crap.
Trance needs to evolve and it is. There's no point in denying it. We'll always have the memories of that great trance era, but it's time to move on. There's a lot of exciting new stuff happenning in the electronic music scene and so much to experience. I still enjoy listening to trance, but nothing particularly inspiring or original has been released in the past - say - 18 months. The classic tunes are still classic, but we can't go on forever creating songs from that era. It's 2001 and we've all progressed a bit since then. :)
Viva le revolution! |

| TRANCE IS NOT DEAD, PERIOD. You might say were in a "recession" for new tracks at the time but hey, give it time, it will be back. Trance can not die. |

The trance years..... 1998-1999
This trance time was the best in my opinion. But why people ask if trance is dead. Hey, times have changed. Trance is still alive but on another way of sound.
Exemple: 1998-1999
BINARY FINARY - 1998 OR 1999
SYSTEM F - OUT OF THE BLUE
TIESTO - GOURYELLA
MUCH MORE....
2001-2001:
URBAN TRAIN
WAY OUT WEST - INTENSIFY
AND BLA BLA BLA
The only difference is that the EPIC trance take a drop because lots of producer want to make money with cheasy track like darude - zombie nation....all that
If you try to listen new stuff....i mean with more technical work in the tunes....be sure you'll find that trance is still alive.
Progressive house is more and more popular because we have a thin line between progressive house and progressive trance.
BEDROCK - HEAVEN SCENT
WAY OUT WEST - INTENSIFY
well thanks at all...my opinion
Trance and progressive house....my life |

Nooooooooooooo!
It's picking up again if u ask me, afta a bit of a bad spot a few monthes ago.
Tiestos album isn't house! It's all trance, its just that its gone a bit progressive. Anyway just cuz tiesto releases a progressive trance cd doesn't mean trance is dead full stop.

lol! Wooooooooot! So ur sayin that epic, uplifting, and melodic trance should all die? Just about halving the variety of trance around!? There are still good epic/uplifting/melodic tracks being produced, maybe not on the same level as Gouryella - Gouryella etc. but come on those were amazin songs, u can't xpect every song 2 top the song b4 that! Also give me an example of this "instead of having lame wannabe's producing unimaginative trance-by-numbers crap. " |

| i can see all of your points. but it does seem like djs are trying to make more money. and trance is evolving but it can never touch they way it was in 98/99. and i hope tiesto/corsten/armin will notice that its not what it used to be and bring it back. after all they are the three trance gods. |

| its on the way back up man, it just got too commercial and crappy for a while, just wait for the new gouryella and such. 2001 hasnt been a great year but look in http://www.only-djs.com for all new quality vinyls, eg the new robert smit, ocean lab, inhale mixes. |

I just think there will always be tracks produced in every genre of trance, uplifting, prog, whatever. Always.
If you go to vinyl stores you always find a dozen uplifting, prog, tribal etc. records released every day. That you don't know about them doesn't mean they don't exist. |
