| given that the world is a sphere...and assuming that for the most part the population density is distributed equally around it (ok i know that's not true...but humor me)...wouldn't everyone jumping up at the same time have no effect? |

well....according to newton and einstein...not really.
Jumping off would move us as much as it made the earth move, and then since all objects with mass have a pull on eachother theyd come back the same amount too. Dont you know anything about vectors and physics?!?! she it |

If the earth's surface could withstand the pressure with no movement it would be made of a rigid material. However since earth is largely made up of materials which are either liquid or non-rigid I hypothesize that the world would slightly contrict if a large enough equal pressure was placed on the earth's surface. Of course after the initial application of the force, the energy would dissipate and the earth would return to it's normal size. |

Also the definition of mass is an objects resistance to acceleration (change in direction or velocity (speeding up or slowing down))
I think the earth weights more :eyes: |
