the bpm may have peaked at arround 135 with some of the tracks jz played.. the tunes sasha played were soo ing busy they seemed really fast. He had sooo many effects and loops going on. |

SHOCKED AS HELL!!!!!
knowing the good things i've heard and with my respect for sasha i've always known james zabiela had to be talented, but i was a little concerned because i have no tolerance for a PURE BREAKS set. very happy to find out that james zabiela has more than technical mastery.... ie a great taste in music that is both sophisticated AND DANCEABLE!
James... you're really good. you might remember me, i wouldn't stop yelling at you at the end. "You can't stop, no you can't hehe :) "
but the night was great, yes sasha was amazing and more than unpredictable with his prototype live mixing... but it was more impressive to be blown away by what Zabiela pulled off alongside THAT! you have some amazing skills, and i'm so glad that somebody has been able to bring this kind of talent and turntable mastery to good music made for the dancefloor. looking forward to many more gigs, and PLEASE DO TAG TEAM WITH SASHA AROUND HERE AGAIN!!!!!!!!! this outdoes all sasha & digweed experiences for me... zabiela complements the reinvented sasha style of complete unpredictability much better!
and to my accusers.... LOL yes i was tired when i got there,so i started out slow. its been a sleepless week! but there are a lot of things that dictate when i catch the flow. yes besides the obvious - it is always the case when you're there for the last moments of the set, being pushed by a great dj, and pushing that dj to keep on playing, with only a few loyal partiers remaining.... THAT IS THE BEST TIME for me... you get space, you have nothing but energy around you because the few people around are bouncing all over the place and doing it right... unlike the space-fillers that don't dance ;)
and yes the music, effects, and turntable tricks got better and better, and more enthralling. MAD SKILLZ!!!!!!!! |

| I agree with the above statements wholeheartedly! The music was unreal the entire night. Sasha was especially outstanding. That remix of that Killers tune that he played near the end almost made me cry. And I loved hearing Gwen Stenfani - What U waiting FOr too :D Sasha & James definitely compliment each other in a really unique way - I thought it definitely got better as the night when on. The last 2 or 3 hours was just insane. Overall, I really liked Crobar too - nice size, decent sound, non-sketchy vibe. Cant wait for Sasha/Diggers and PvD next month :disbelief |

the lighting was actually improved last night if you believe it. they added the four light stands on the stage. also, before crobar added the vip area BEHIND the booth, the booth was actually backed up and closer to the wall. it seems like the stage keeps creeping out more and more onto the dance floor.
i had a great time. i couldn't really move because i was operating on 5 hours of sleep. still had a blast. sasha and JZ
and i'm feeling the imperial storm trooper shirt :D |
i saw ya u were right next to me for awhile lol |

got some vietnamese food. Which was really good. The music was maybe a 7/10 from both sasha, and zabi. You guys must be blind to think it was an absolutely amazing night. The place was absolutely ing dead. I have never seen a club that bad. It also seemed like both Sasha & Zabi were just doing their own thing. For example, Zabi would build up some breaks, and the bpm, and when the kick droped, not a single person would move, at all. I got bored and sleepy, and decided to leave at like 4:30, i just couldn't take it anymore. |
at least you got some good food even
do the factory noise (def not musik) was
“perfect” that place being packed and
no one dancing just comes to show how
dumm ppl are willing to pay money for
a performance that is on the other side
from musical excellence; at least you
were with your friends chilling and had
some cool coconut dish with shrimps

For real, Lee is right... no one was dancing and I have no idea why, they just stood around. around the end of the night 5-6 everyone was freaking out and jumping though. It really kills it, yea, when no one is dancing. |
horrible environment…

given him parts of their tracks to manipulate... Last night he seems very fond of a laser synth effect which IMO was awesome... |

she was referring to the opening DJ. read the whole post.
dave, just let people have their opinions without insulting them. why make assumptions about someone's physical state there? everyone (except lee) had a good time.
zabs didn't play a pure break set so hah! :p
   great nite once again |

Firstly i guess him working a ableton set seems beyond your comprehension.
Secondly, the first two dj;s who opened were none other than astro and glyde and they have had one of the longest residencies in NYC. They must being doing something write....
JZ and Sasha made the best tag team i have seen in a damn long time.. No sense in arguing with you though, as you along with the greater part of this board have no clue about good music... And would rather listen to formulated music that has been done 1000 times over and rides over 140bpm... that is tired...
