I prefer my animals farmed, slaughted, neatly packed & served with garlic & salt.

That's like saying that you're going to go "hunting" for water, and you go outside and sit in the middle of a sidwalk waiting for it to rain - and then when it finally does, trying to claim it as some sort of accomplishment that you successfully found water.

With respect, just becuase you don't understand something doesn't make it stupid does it?

I think it's more the process of hunting rather than the killing thats the part people like. Maybe a bit of satisfaction that you get something at the end though, and getting better at something.

I say live and let live(no pun intended...).

realise that they are not sitting there waiting....there is mass quantities of beer, and good stories. its something you do with your friends, very much like clubbing, you all travel together and chat, then you watch this show, then you hang out afterwards.

Wow, some of you people seem to be quite uneducated about the kinds of people who go hunting.

WTF? it wasnt bleeped here.

...It was where *I* was at. lol

Maybe that was just during daytime TV or something - but I distinctly remember that movie posters in Cambridge had the word "Shagged" put as %@#$%^! or something to that effect. Also, television commercials always said "Austin Powers: The Spy who -bleeped- me." It sticks in my mind because I was thinking about how you can say whatever the you want to on British TV, even show nudity (a big no-no in USA), and yet - the word "shag" is profane enough to censor. :stongue:

Maybe there's different connotations even in the same country? :p

i am not for hunting animals (then again, how do we eat our meat ??? :wtf: )..

however, i do understand the 'hunter' presepective why they want to hunt compared to other's prespectives to why not to hunt .. hunting is an american tradition that has been carried down from ages to ages dating back to the prehistoric ages and european era. we can't control people who love to hunt, because it's in their blood .. hunting is not in my blood .. my parents dont hunt or fish .. my grandparents never hunted or fished ..

also, the same question goes for the common fisherman .. why do people fish? why do people catch seafood in the lakes and oceans, like crabs, crawfish, oysters, etc ... ?? fishing is like hunting .. we are trying to catch an animal of some sort .. it's all just the beauty of life .. everyone has a different type of lifestyle .. some have the hunting lifestyle (seems to be the country lifestyle, in my prespective) .. and others have the urban lifestyle (away from the forests and animals .. just big buildings, traffic, and loud distractions) .. hahaha..

I'm not a hunter, personally, but I don't see any reason why one shouldn't hunt. I think some of the ultra,red-neck hunters are a farce, but there are many different classes that hunt. We were put here to rule over animals anyway, IMO. ;)

Beer and friends and stories are good, but that is really not related to the enjoyment of hunting because one could easily have the beer and stories with friends without the hunting being involved at all. The tendency of people to partake in two or more activities concurrently and the virtue of some of these activities does not explain or justify the inclusion of the rest.

Hunting is a thinly veiled excuse to hangout with other guys. :gsmile:

I haven't hunted for a few years, but killed a couple dozen deer and tons of other critters in my life. I get more thrill on the water fishing it seems these days. Boar hunting is year round down here and you can even hunt with pistol, so I might go try that with my .357 magnum. Some sport in it I reckon. OH, didn't mention trapping. Me and a bud caught 96 beavers one year and piles of muskrat, coons, foxes, minks and a very few otter and bobcats. I know, hahahhaaa beavers...just like Beavis. After all, I got an undergrad in Wildlife Mangement(seriously).
