RCC - Institute of Technology (Thinking of swtiching career paths)

HI all,
Well im thinking of switching career paths, from business(accounting) to something tech based. I once had a teacher who went to RCC, and he was an extremely bright, and knowledgable teacher, and tech enthusiast.
i'm not exactly too sure what i want to do yet...but working with hardware, in some way would be good.
I was looking at their new degree:
Bachelor Of Technology Degree (Computer Information Systems)
what possible career paths would there be, if i were to study this?
anybody have a similar degree?
I was just wondering has anybody else had any experiences with RCC, with people who have gone there, hired from there etc...
I know many people our age(I'm 21) switch career paths, anybody have any stories to share?

well i am sorry i am trying to get away from IT since it fully saturated full of IT people, trying to get into buisness management. or game designs |

| I'm currently at RCC but I have 5 more exam to write and I'm outa there. I've been there for a year and a half. Its not a bad school but I'm in the older course that is going to be no longer there as I'm the last class. I went through for computer networking, the only good thing about the school is the amount of information you learn in such a short amount of time. Also it put a big dent in my pocket cause tution for me was $15000 a year and I belive it might be even higher if you go for the degree but if you have the money its worth it. |

on the website it said 4300 each semester, for the first 3 semesters...how much for after? or is that all the payment they require?
im pretty confused about that.
so you would recomend it in terms of a good education? |

The industry might not be as saturated as you think, in the future atleast:

I was considering going to RCC, but decided at the last moment to go for business management instead of networking.
A relative of mine did a lot of hiring for Sprint. From what he said, the quality of the graduates wasn't anything spectacular, and skill varied widely from candidate to candidate. I guess if you're the kind of person who is dedicated and willing to learn, you'll do fine. From what I remember, it is a lot to learn in a short amount of time.
Can't really comment on what goes on inside the school (teachers, classes etc.) as I never got that far :) |

Unfortunately it's saturated with paper-IT people with the credentials but no real-life experience.
They couldn't fix a problem if it's handed to them in a wet paper bag...
Seriously...when I was a Senior Call-Center tech for Nortel a few years back, we had a guy that I swear to gawd had more letters for acronymns that he had for his whole name.
Amazingly guess who was his number one source for solutions...
(I'm not bragging here, it's just a real life situation I've come across).

I have a number of guys who work for me that graduated from RCC. From what they tell me it was a good course.
As for the saturation of the IT market, that may be true but we can't hire people fast enough. We have hired about 80 full-time IT people in the past year. |

may i ask what company you work for, and what type of positions you are hiring for? |
