Richard D. James' (Aphex Twin) Studio???

Does anyone have any idea what Mr. Aphex Twin's studio looks like? What he uses to arrange his tracks (sequence) (I've also read that he programs his own software such as that Geak, which i cannot find info on.)
I know that he, in the past, was analog, and I see a massive possibility that he still is (despite what he has said). Im VERY curious as to what he uses when he plays live (I usually only see a laptop and...a mixer mabye?)
Please if anyone has any info, it would be GREATLY appreciated. |

From what I've read he work in a home studio with lots of experimental synths and ones he built himself. Although nowadays he's more into programming and computer stuff. Now he uses one old synth he built and a few modern ones. He's known for pioneering a piece of software calles MX/MSP which is a digital programming package for music (kinda like Kyma)

I know he uses a program called 'MAX' for sequencing stuff.
Dont ask how i know, i just do.
Its a really good program, and is the secret to some of those mad loops and rhythms. Kinda hard to explain how it works- but you set some parameters- and it can randomise around certain things you set....hence some of the madness.
Most impressive software- this runs off his laptop.
he has also built a lot of his own effects units and synth type things.

hes a brilliant mad scientist, but imo, he is very over blown in terms of his weirdness. i know he s around with interviews and tells alot of b.s. to the interviewers, but ive heard he is really just a sweet, down to earth guy, with an incredible imagination and amazing amount of creativity. i guess thats a bit of an understatement though... I would love to meet him one day, and just drink some tea. |
