bad news for ASOT fans unless you're a pay subscriber to DI. I was informed today that until further notice, ETN is no longer allowed to carry the 'A State of Trance' show. It's a pretty simple situation, I'll sum it up for you.

-ASOT is now under control of The Radio Department for syndication
-DI.FM either has or almost has an exclusive online agreement with The Radio Department for ASOT permanently, and they have one at the very least for the remainder of March
-What does this mean for you? Well, if you want to listen to ASOT you can choose from DI's free 96kbps stream or pay them for a subscription to get 128 or 160

Obviously I won't be doing DOWNLOADS of the show anymore since I don't have rights to. I have actually recieved word from The Radio Department and am working with them to see if any arrangement can be reached that will allow ASOT to be carried on ETN again. Once I recieve final word either way, of course this will be the first place I post it, so keep checking back for updates ;)

I don't think that was official yet though. As far as I can tell, DI are the only ones that are broadcasting right now.

Hmmm...well I guess they gotta get paid to do this...which sort of makes sense after all. Hmmmm too bad thoug, I really enjoyed last ASOT.

The 96k stream is free, you can't tell the difference between 96k and 128k really. If they told you it was 128 and it was really 96, nobody would know.

True, but that isn't my only complain (besides i normally listen at 256 :p).

I'm a bit pissed that now i won't be able to download the set afterwards anymore. I used to download the set every week... And i know numerous people who did the same thing, some because they missed the show, others because they just liked to listen to it more than once.

That really s me actually. :(

DI is the only ONLINE station - not terrestrial broadcast.

Club 246 still has their deal right? But still not a day or time set for the regular playing of the show.

let me clear this before people start getting the wrong idea:

1) the deal with theradiodepartment.com was already finished in Januari. I asked ETN.FM & DI.FM to take care of the show till the radiodepartment takes over. By contract I wasn't allowed to give the show to anyone else, but i stretched it for a long as I could. Both ETN & DI.FM knew this and agreed on this.

2) It's my goal to get ASOT to an even bigger audience. Internet radio is huge and a great tool, but what could be better than listening to ASOT on your mom's kitchen stereo? That's why I choose the radiodepartment. Money has never been a goal. It just costs money to make a radioshow, to make jingles and to send it out to several stations around the world. Plus, the writers and producers of the tracks I play deserve to be payed for the fact that I play their tracks. That's the law. I don't expect to make any money with radio.

3) the radio department has already secured quite a number of deals and is working on quite a few other ones. It looks like ASOT will be in 10 different countries from april. More news soon.

4) DI.FM has closed a deal with the radiodepartment. And because THEY chose to start with the international editions of ASOT from April, fact is that they have the show for 3 weeks exclusive.

5) You will be able to listen to ASOT for FREE, just at a lower bitrate which is still quite reasonable. No commercials etc. Better than ID&T! And if you want even higher quality, you can.
To tune-in directly for FREE pleae use the following links:
High-Speed MP3: http://www.di.fm/mp3/trance.pls
24k aacPlus: http://www.di.fm/aacplus/trance.pls
Windows Media 32k: http://www.di.fm/wma/trance.asx
Windows Media 24k: http://www.di.fm/wma/trance_low.asx

6) I'm very thankful for the support of ETN and Evangelist knows this as I've always told him. Also, he knew about theradiodepartment.com.

I just hope you understand the situation from my point of view. All I want is to get ASOT to more people. I hope this clears this up.
