Someone stole my laptop...

My friend throws good ass parties and I come and play music once in a while. He has decks with final scratch, and we installed on my laptop so I bring it over every now and then and play some tunage.

Anyway, a fight broke out and the bar where the laptop was sitting flipped over and that thing went into the crowd. By the time everyone cleared out the laptop was gone (which sucks).

What I'm thinking - maybe someone did take it, but I dunno seems like during a fight the first thing on your mind wouldn't be "hey let's steal that laptop", better yet trying to get it out of the house and such.

Ohh well, I guess it was time for a new one anyhow (but it sucks all that music is gone).

So anyone want to tell me what kind I should get next??? I would use it for music production for sure, as well as storing a load of music - I rip all my CDs onto my laptop and I have about 500. Thanx in advance.

which powerbook model is good for the budget, i mean not cheap to be exact but the best bang for the buck so to speak
kamil
12" Powerbook is best imo, id get a used 1ghz model too, price will be low.

Warranty stays on powerbook no matter who is the owner.

Mac's seem to be the most popular when it comes to producing with laptop's. The Powerbook G5 seems to be quite popular among producers on the road.

Used usually with a small, portable MIDI and USB compatible keyboard such as an Oxygen8.

Your standard producing type sound-card would be needed but not nessecarily MIDI compatible as most connections are done by Firewire or USB these days.

When buying, take into account the price range, features, portability and compatibility with other pieces of hardware and software.

i would go for an Apple - they r best if u talkin about music production and stuff...but as u and me know their prices bite and no every1 can afford their goods...

so...

if u have the money dont waste your time and go get some nice Apple machine...

if u r one of the "middle-class" crowd :) u gona check models by Sony (VIAO) or HP (i know u gona say "HP make printers nad not pcs, notebooks or digital cameras" but if u dont have big budget for all that things HP has some interesting suggestions for ya and the price-to-utility ratio is quite good so...)...

never heard about Toshiba models [ maybe coz they r not so popular here in israel...]

anyway i dont know whats popular today in russia check the web u gota find a lot of suggestions... :)

and next time put some kind of alarm system like u have in your car - that gona help u alot ;)
