....yeah...it's because the internet signal and basic cable signals can't be seperated |

If you have one of Rogers' Motorola Surfboard cable modems (not sure about the others), you can actually see what frequencies / channels your cable modem is working on. Kinda cool...
My upstream fits in below channel 2, and the downstream is squeezed in between channel 89 and 90. |

P.S You can steal bell expressvu.. i have had mine for 2 years, and it has only gone down 2 times.. but since i have the programmer and such, it didnt take me long to get it back up. Only downfall to this is they are in the middle of a cardswap , and by the time the summer comes, i will have to wait till the new card is cracked.. bummer i have already lost my Porn :( |

if you live in an apartment then there will be a room on your floor (probably an electrical room) that will have a cable t.v. panel, in this panel is where the main feed comes in and then gets split off to all the appts. on that floor, what you have to do is find out which one is yours and then take off the filter.....i only know this because i'm an electrician and i've done it for all my friends....the best thing to do is take the filter off, then drill it out, and then put it back.....this way if the cable guy ever shows up nothing will look outa place.... |
If I ever catch anybody doing that I'll chase them them using my bat-o-cricket.
This is NOT a good thing to do. Sure - it will give you television, but in the process you're going to screw up everybody's internet access to is connected to that line or that box.
How would you like it if your internet didn't work because some doodman was buggering in an electrical room in your building? |

who are you calling "doodman"?......besides her line has nothing to do with anyones internet signal on the floor, or the entire building for that matter |

I've been doing this for well over a year now...
The internet service has to have a carrier (the T.V. signal).
I simply used a splitter; one goes to the T.V., the other to the Roger's modem.
I got all the analogue channels and used to get most of the specialty channels as well. Now it's just up to channel 30 with spotted channels here and there after that.
Not bad considering I don't really watch T.V.
and I can still get my CSI!!!! woot! :toocool: |

it seems that my roomie changed from roger's to sprint canada for her internet and that IS WHY it is not working - so there is no fancy modem:( I don't know what to do - I think I am S.O.O.L. with this and I will just have to pay for it - like everyother person -
I wouldn't want to go downstairs and cause by opening any doors ( y luck - some damn alarm will sound!):(
