Using songs from livesets to MAKE MONEY

in regards to sebas in the closed thread. I wish to make this a civil one with out flaming and to discuss the issue at hand.
I believe it is still wrong to download (for free) livesets from dj's and use digital cd decks and mix them again to make money or sell them. In no way do artists recieve compensation to use their tracks. However when buying vinyl, mp3, cd the artists still get paid for their work and thus spinning live or selling as a live set is ok. Or are laws different for live set cut ups?
That is what i believe. Opinions appreciated. no flaming please. |

I'm pretty sure it's illegal. It's morally wrong even if it isn't illegal. Leeches.
It's infringement on copyright law. However, I'm not schooled in law, so any exact answer would be welcome. |

You hit the nail on the head. "DJ" Sebas is just a no talent scam artist. It's funny to think that people bash DJs like Tiesto and Oakenfold who aren't the best mixers, but they certainly deserve a huge amount of respect compared to that nut job. |

are you saying people download livesets, then rip songs off of those live sets, and then mix those songs into one of their own sets?
what dumbass would do that? any song that you do that to you couldnt mix properly because there is no real intro or outro. the last DJ mixed using the intro and outro so either you have to mix after the intro and before the outro OR you have to mix an intro that already has an outro attched to it. |

I don't usually like to point fingers in TA, but this so called "DJ" Sebas is a joke. Mixing various live sets from already established artists and calling them his own is an insult to every single person who's trying to become a DJ in here or any other place in the world.
You can critisize song selection, mixing technique, CDR vs Vinyl use, set structure, etc., from any DJ in the world, and that's OK because that type of criticism is perfectly healthy and I believe necessary to make us all better at what we do (at least those of us who DJ).
This Sebas guy shouldn't even have the privilege of any EDM fan criticising his sets to make him a better DJ, because to put it simple, he's not a real DJ. All he is is a joke and an insult to all of us who own decks.
BTW, I would really like to know the name if the place in Barcelona where he has a residency or at least where he claims he's played at. I've been to Barcelona many many times and have attended the awesome clubs over there. I wouldn't be surprised if this "place" is no other than a friends crummy local bar.
Sorry for all this. I just had to get it ou of my system after reading that other thread this morning. Like I said, I don't like to point fingers, but this guy just had it coming, especially after the utterly idiotic comments he made. |
