If they want total control why don't they do home schooling.
The curriculum of indoctrination could look something like this:
Morning prayers
Creationism 101
Right to life
Bible study
Afternoon prayers
Intelligent design
Abstinence the only birth control
Censorship is good |

Yes but when one is right and one is wrong, teaching the right one is not indoctrination, it is known as education! |

To a certain extent they fully exercise that right - voting.
They can vote for members on their city Board of Education that best reflects their views.
They can vote for members in their State BOE that best reflects their views.
They can attend meetings at both and cite their voices, often times successfully banning certain material they deem offensive.
That is how the public school system works. And as it was suggested, many who do not support this democratically elected system can indoctrinate their own children according to their own personal beliefs via home schooling.
If, however, your complaint is what other children are learning, that is another argument and you'll have to assert your point as well as support it, if you will.

Well despite public voting by parents in order to best match nominees to their own particular ideals and beliefs, the public school system still attempts to maintain a baseline standard on teaching the most correct and most current knowledge, information, and teaching methodology. At present and with the topic of this thread, teaching evolution is hardly "indoctrinating" anyone, no more than teaching gravity or quantum theory should be considered "indoctrinating" them as well. It's simply the best explanation that a wealth of evidence supports from a biological, geological, paleontological, geographical, anthropological, and genetic standpoint.
ID/Creationism/any other idea does not have any testable, observable, and falsifiable evidence to support them. These are the basic tenets of science, i.e. scientific methodology (hypothetico- deductive method). So to introduce such ideas in a science classroom would not only be extremely foolish and fallacious, but would hinder our kids from defining, understanding, and correctly utilizing science.
So no, there's no double-standard involved here. Just your simple misunderstanding, that's all. |

God has nothing to do with this. This is simply a matter of understanding science and wanting our children to correctly understand it as well.

There's a wealth of posts on this subject. I suggest you do a search on "evolution" "ID" "creationism", and feel free to chime in on those threads accordingly. I contend there's a substantial weight of evidence supporting evolution, and I've exhibited that evidence in those given threads.
If you disagree, please be prepared to support your assertions. |
