I like IDM, but I really only know some of the obvious choices in the scene: Autechre, Boards Of Canada, Aphex Twin, etc. I find it hard to get into the really glitchy stuff, but I like much of the melodic IDM I've heard. I don't really like the ultra-elitist attitude adopted by some (not all) fans of the genre though.

i enjoy the crazier off beat kida stuff, best well known example i can give is Aphex Twin - Windowlicker, funny thing is i was listening to aphex twin WAY before i ever got into edm music, infact befor i really cared to liten to it. And in the past 2 years or so people have been like you gotta hear this new track, and it turns ut to be some old aphex song brought back to the surface. Good to see them getting recognition

Do they call it IDM because it is impossible to dance to? I guess i dont understand what is so "smart" about IDM.
Atari Addict
haha it's not all impossible to dance to, most of it is just more on the technical side, manipulating beats and such. I don't know that it's that smart, just different and cool
Digital Aura
yeah...Im familiar with the term too, but how would you guys classify it or differentiate it from EDM.
Sorry if this has been asked but I didnt feel like reading all the other posts here.:p
