they are both good dj's, not my favs by a long shot, btu i have heard both of them up majorly at big events. i think they are both overhyped personally. and its hard to say who is better. on average armins mixing is better than tiesto's imo, but i have heard armin trainwreck so bad he had to stop the mix and start overagain.
it all comes down to personal preferance.... as for tiesto letting the #1 go to his head..... the guy does a one man statium tour and releases it on a dvd as if he was a rock star... hell ya it went to his head... |

I saw each but only once, I had more fun at the armin party.
As far as cd's and stuff though, I've tended to favor the tiesto ones, I dunno.
its not like listening to one of these is gonna make it harder to hear the other, I doubt they will ever be playing in your home town on the sae night, and you can hardly avoid hearing their music on all th streams and in every kids hard drive, so there really isnt any point to picking one over the other, unless you are trying to fill a tiny mp3 player with a live set or something.
but tiesto parties arent very fun, I find that they are sooooo full there is barely any room to dance or breathe. I had to wait in a line in the rain for like 2 hours for the one I went to, and I already had tickets! |

ill tell you..ive always thought about these two things and realized that both are very good...but at there own thing...Tiesto is more of a nature kind of guy that like the relaxation and loves to party...hes gettin older though...i think armin is still in his young stage and loves to party all the time
my brother has been to three parties with him...and he never quits playing until the time when they actually close the club for good and kick him out and even then...they went back to his hotel and partied till 7 in the morning or some ridiculous time...keep in mind they kicked my brother out and armin at 330
so i just think armin likes to party more and keeps the crowd going
Tiesto has that nature thing..keeps the party goin but just doesnt have all that urge to keep keep and keep partying

Tiesto's gigs are always packed to capacity and then some. You can't move let alone dance. I started listening to Tiesto back in 1998, it was a different time and he was a different DJ. As time has progressed he has slowly become some sort of "Superstar DJ" and it has gone to his head IMO. I saw Tiesto in December at a smaller club in San Diego and he seemed so detached from the crowd. He had like 6 people in the DJ booth with him and all he did was talk to them the entire time, he really didn't interact with the crowd at all. He ended his set 45 minutes early, signed a few records, and then left. WTF!!! I was very dissappointed. He played nothing but fluff. I also saw him NYE at the Palladium here in Hollywood. He arrived an hour late!!! The venue was completely packed even out to the hallways, there was no room to dance. He didn't seem into his set as much as he should have been, it was NYE for Christ's sake! Tiesto is rapidly losing points in my book. FERRY OWNS LIVE!!! |

I've seen both live, Tiesto just once at his concert he had here in Belgium where he seemed to be very in touch with his fans (but that may be just coz it was HIS concert) and Armin 2 times, once at Antwerp is Burning Outdoor last year and at Trance Energy this year and each time he gave 100&. So, overall i can't say that one does it better or not, they both thrilled the crowds and were "in touch" with the public. Maybe in future, i will be able to realise if it's not like that.
As for an overall ranking between the 2 of them, i'd still give Tiesto his current #1 position, coz trance wouldn't have been what it is today without him, and also i keep a tight eye on Armin as he has #1 potential. Tbh if he keeps it going like this i see him the #1 dj in 2005. |

| Saw Tiesto bout a month ago at Passion's 10th birthday. You could move easily on the dancefloor for Matt Hardwick's set but when Tiesto was about to come on the place was rammed. You then realised it was a sellout and saw people hanging from the roof like monkeys trying to get a glimpse of him. No interaction at all and I was near the front. Just a few vinyl throwing, one of which btw my mate managed to get. None of his great stuff got played i.e "Flight 643" and was not very uplifting. Armin I have seen on loads of occasions b'coz he is a resident at Godskitchen in Birmingham, England. I think the guy has stage presence big time and he can read the crowd really well. However as a DJ, although from what I have seen Armin interacts better and they both produce great tracks...its just that Tiesto gets more hype. To close to call at the moment. Waiting for Ibiza and Global Gathering to see how they go down in front of a true diehard audience. |
