Anybody know what the music is being played in the trailer? |
not sure. though I was hoping that Jeff Waynes music version would have some influences on the score. It would be good to hear that chilling song 'Eve of the War' in the movie. :p |

Found this on imdb.com: Begins with sampled "Stealth Mass in F Minor" by Apollo 440,through some sampled cues, into the hard choral "Final Omen 2.0", a production track from the Immediate Music library. |

DAMN!!! That's pretty close to that concept picture. That is freaky. It's only 5% of the tripod

Yea I cant wait to see Cruise act as an average joe
I cant wait to see that little brat Fannning cry and whine (Spielberg style) for the whole god damn movie
I cant wait for Spielberg to totally ravage a classic and make a stupid cgi-fest alien invasion movie set in the present day...in other words I cant wait for him to rehash ID
Stupid. |

Like Independence Day?
I thought WIll Smith did a very good job in that movie. All he had was that Fresh Prince sit-com as experience.
I remember Fresh Prince & Jazzy Jeff, the squeeky clean rap duo. |

Good thing this movie opens all around the world on the 29th. I wouldn't have wanted to wait months after the premiere in USA.
And after seeing those pics above... Wooo! :nervous: |

The book, set in late 19th Century England, is a classic. Why are classics messed with? It literally initiated modern science fiction and is still read widely today and used in high school and even university English literature classes. Yet Hollywood feels it needs to be "modernised". Spielberg said making WOTW was his dream come true and then he goes off and screws with the story. Shocker here folks...the aliens ARE NOT from Mars in this telling.
It would be nice to see someone in that mindless business down there actually have some balls and do something different. Am I alone in thinking how cool it would be to see red coat British soldiers getting wasted by Martians vastly superior to them? |

I agree with Smitty, the whole concept of modernising it is questionable at best.
Having it set in the late 19th century/early 20th century would be much better, they could have it in America if they wanted, but I think the time is a fairly important part of the story. |

Well, I don't know if setting it in the USA in the 1890s would fit the book either. The whole point of the book was an attack against imperialism, an allegory to what Wells saw as Europeans (and other countries) doing to less advanced peoples of the world. Since Britain was the easily the world's most powerful nation until after WW1 and the USA was barely even a middle power, it wouldn't make sense. Britain, in all her glory and power, were quite useless against the Martians...the conquerors were being conquered in brutal ways.
I guess that's why Hollywood just won't make a true version of WOTW. In their view, a movie about Victorian Brits fighting aliens with no Americans around saving the day won't sell in the USA. I beg to differ, especially with someone like Spielberg behind the lens. Everything has to be Americanised and it bugs the out of me. |
