ok first of all. i work in a recording studio. that sounds nothing like a guitar.
second of all, it sounds NOTHING like a guitar
just find someone that plays a guitar if you really want a guitar sound |
Yes I know it doesn't sound like a guitar, which is why I'm asking what it is that's missing or added on that should/shouldn't be there. |

I like your picture :)
Not a guitar synth expert, but it sounds fine to me, if a bit FL Slayer-ish. If you are putting it in a Trance song then maybe try gating it?
Not sure - just about and see how it goes... |

| Your best bet is EQ. It controls frequencies so it will give you the freedom of changing whatever frequencies you want especially the higher ones. You also will want to make it just that little bit cleaner, it's too distorted to sound like a real guitar unless your going for the whole Hendrix up next to the speakers sound. |

there are way too many factors. one of the studio engineers is a huge snob on trying to get software guitar effects, synths, simulators, and amp sims sounding like the real deal. it's like a hobby of his. he has put countless hours tyring to dick around and get accurate tones, even running a synth guitar out through a Marshell cab and a mesa/boogie cabinent with vintage 30's and it still sounds nothing like a guitar.
the wood of the guitar, the finish, the pickups, the picks/fingernails, the guitar player and their style/technique, the wiring, the type of solder, the cable used, the amplifier, effects, connections, power conditions, cabinets, speakers, room, microphone, preamps, and so many more determine how a guitar sounds. it's impossible, IMHO, to recreate this electronically.
Even using the tiest amp, guitar, and microphone, it still sounds more like a guitar than a guitar pluged into a computer. |

You might try a bit of compression with a hard attack, to give it a bit of the percussive illusion of a pick. Also may try doubling up some clicks or something, or maybe a dot of white noise. Honestly your best bet is to get someone that plays guitar. I'm with the other guy, its almost impossible, you can ALWAYS tell a fake guitar from a real one.
no offense, but derivative, your guitar actually sounds worse than that? |

you guys are asshats. i have never used a synth guitar before. never used fl slayer - just never had any need for it. and i think it sounded nice. it definitely confused me at the start.
my guitar is a replica of a gibson SG. i dont have a preamp or an amp. hence sending it straight through my virus b input and amping it up using the analog boost is what i have to do. i do not recommend doing this. i think it sounds like tranc3's guitar sound only the distortion i use is not as good and the bass on mine is much much much blurrier. the tone is flat on my guitar anyway. its nothing special but you guys are acting like phucking whiney geeks - you dont need to keep telling tranc3 - 'thats NOT a guitar! give up now! its futile!'
she already acknowledges it doesnt sound like a guitar (although you fooled me easily enough). i think it sounds good. you could probably just as easily gate it, or whack some tube distortion on it and turn it into a psy style synth lead. then again, i sometimes get confused with those too (case in point - infected mushroom's the shen) in which i could swear their leads are actually overdriven guitars. |

mmmmk, the human ear can tell the difference between a hi hat and a guitar sound by the way the frequencies are adjusted.
if you get to fill the right frequency, and get rid of garbage frequency, you'll get your guitars
question tho, why are you making your own when you can get a high quality sample and then turn it into whatever you want
in reason for example, i can virtually turn any sound into guitar with a help of scream 3 module.
another thing i have to point out, the more you try to add, the less it will sound like a guitar, its like writing a love letter, you cant put too much figure of speech or make it too complicated, it has to be simple and easy to rid, same with your guitars |
