The Office (pg. 2)

They have got the 2main people trying to act like David Brent and Gareth Keenan. This won't ever work because you cannot recreate British humor because nobody can be that witty and sarcastic like British people and get away with it without looking like fools. Ricky Gervais is a comical genius, there isn't hardly anyone that could play David Brent as good as him.

their version of david brent isnt david brent. they didnt they just screen the british version, after all the show was taylored around british humor, americans cant act like a british.

pitiful
ive watched the BBC office, it was much better. But maybe its cause ive seen that one first.

95% of the episode is exactly the same. Funny how some of the reviews quote
"one of the most original shows on NBC", its not original at all

The american version ( which is currently shown on NBC) is . The casting of the roles is very poor.

The British version ( which can be found on DVD @ amazon.com) is brilliant !!! I mean like fall on the floor and piss in your pants funny. The British Office, unlike the american version, cast the syertopical office workers and personalities.

If you like the lame ass american version you will love the British Version.

I saw a preview of the american version I though the same just too "american" 1 thing happens then another then another just seems weird too focused on line delivery rather than acting (maybe I mean line delivered then another rather than things happening).

Ans as renagede said he doesn't have that same mutli-sided personality. You know Rory Bremner (a impersonator here) found David Brent one of the most complicated people he every tried to "do" just beacuse of the number of facial expressions he has.

It has its moments, but it can't hold a candle to the british version, but how is it going to? Gimme a break, the FCC won't allow nearly as much on public tv here in the states. I too was annoyed that the first episode was a direct copy of the first episode of the british version, however none of the others apparently will be. The only way to enjoy it is to not compare it to the british version, but for anyone who's seen the british version then they are going to have a hard time doing so...

Correll doesn't do as good a job of Gervais of attempting to steal every scene, it seem a bit forced (as in the delivery is off) I'd watch this show if I were bored, however I won't make a point to like I do with say Arrested Development. Besides I can always watch the british version on dvd and lmao....

The american version just plain sucked balls. Nothing beats Gareth from the british version. That guy was ing classic.

This show is gonna fail in america just like NBC's whack attempt at bringing coupling over to the US.

i thought the american version was pretty funny, although i'm sure it'd be ruined if I saw the British version first, luckily for me though I haven't.

+1

Yeah I'm not from the UK but... :p
mezzir
yeah idk
first episode definately was nowhere near as good as the british episode w/ almost the same plot
however, i remember reading that the US version will only share 2 or 3 scripts with the british one
so i'm waiting to see how the american writers do on their own
