Hundreds of people were evacuated from a nightclub in Manhattan Saturday night for fear the ceiling might collapse.
The Fire Department says it emptied Webster Hall in the East Village after receiving a call from an audience member who said the building felt unsafe. Officials estimate the evacuation involved about 800 people.
Witnesses say one minute they were listening to a concert , the next the band was telling them to leave the building.
“We decided as a matter of safety and precaution to evacuate the building,” said FDNY Deputy Chief Mike O’Keefe. “We are determining at this point now whether there is any significant problem with the building or whether this is a normal sign for this situation.”
Fire officials say there are no plans to shut down the nightclub long-term. Webster Hall was reopened after the Buildings Department issued some minor violations. |

| Speaking of April 1st and Cosmic Gate, whats the name of the website to buy tickets groove somthing or other? I don't have the link to it because I am out of town and I need it.Also I remember ad saying that for will call tickets you have to go that day to pick the tickets up and not show ID at event like usual. This doesn't make any sense especially for people who don't live in NYC. Can anyone confirm if this is true or not? |

| When I went there many many many years ago, the top floor always felt like it was gonna collapse. It would vibrate and shake like crazy when people danced around. I guess some folks must have gotten scared... |
